Business area: Assets

Function: Administrative

Location: Levelland, Texas

Position Type: Part-time

Schedule: Office based

We have an opportunity for someone to join us as a Scale House Operator / Administrative Assistant to work in a truly global environment to support grain receiving operations by accurately processing inbound grain trucks through the scale house and providing day-to-day administrative support reporting to the Operations Analyst.

Business Overview:

Hartree Partners, LP is a leading global merchant commodities firm facilitating the flow of energy, metals, agriculture, and environmental products across the full commodity supply chain, connecting producers and consumers. Hartree was founded in 1997, is jointly owned by senior management and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, LP, and employs over 5,000 individuals worldwide.

Hartree is uniquely positioned to capitalize on opportunities across a diversified set of commodities businesses with focus on trading, asset investments, risk management and advisory services. These businesses are supported by a centralized operating model including risk, technology, operations, finance, HR, legal and compliance, ensuring strong governance and effective execution.

As a growing and evolving firm, Hartree continues to expand its commercial footprint, invest in new assets, and build new capabilities to meet emerging market opportunities. This growth mindset shapes our culture and attracts people who want to innovate, build, and drive meaningful impact.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate the scale house and accurately weigh inbound grain trucks, recording required truck, driver, commodity, weight, and load information in the applicable scale system.
  • Verify scale tickets and required load documentation, and communicate clearly with drivers regarding check-in, weighing, unloading directions, and site procedures.
  • Coordinate with grain operations personnel to support an orderly flow of inbound trucks and promptly communicate discrepancies, delays, or other issues.
  • Maintain accurate scale tickets, logs, records, filing, and other documentation needed to support daily grain receiving activities.
  • Provide administrative support including answering and routing phone calls, data entry, scanning and filing documents, preparing routine reports, organizing office supplies and conducting routine inventory checks.
  • Provide general clerical and organizational support to admin management and other team members as needed.
  • Use standard office software and site-specific scale and grain systems to enter, retrieve, and maintain information accurately.
  • Collect and prepare grain samples and perform required laboratory testing.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering weights, ticket information, and other operational or administrative data.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and the ability to learn scale house receiving systems.
  • Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with truck drivers, coworkers, vendors, and other site visitors.
  • Good organization and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and remain accurate during busy grain delivery periods.
  • Dependability and the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with operations and office personnel.
  • Ability to follow established safety, security, recordkeeping, and site procedures.
  • Bilingual skills, particularly English and Spanish, are preferred but not required and would be beneficial for effectively communicating with a diverse group of truck drivers, producers and customers.
