Job description

Pay Rate: $90,000 - $100,000 / year

Power Solutions International (PSI) is a leading manufacturer of emissions-certified powertrains specializing in customized and fully integrated turnkey solutions for the leading global equipment manufacturers in the industrial, transportation, and energy markets manufacturers. Our facilities are housed in one million square feet of engineering, assembly, operations, and distribution space across seven facilities. We are positioned to meet the high production volumes of our customers with added capacity for growth.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Regional EHS Manager, the Senior Safety Specialist will help promote a company culture focused on safety awareness aimed at keeping all employees safe and preventing safety accidents from occurring through communication, programs, training, policy development, and enforcement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, monitor, and assess safety programs, processes, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements and effectively reduce or eliminate occupational injury and illness
  • Design or change Safety policy and processes to minimize or eliminate risk by overseeing results of, or conducting, audits, inspections, and investigations of facilities, procedures, and equipment to identify unsafe conditions and coordinate resolution of issues, violations, and hazards
  • Develop and deliver safety training to increase employee awareness of safety requirements and assist department heads and administrators in enforcing safety regulations and codes
  • Manage workers’ compensation cases, including claims and return to work accommodations
  • Review and analyze all safety data and reports of all safety recordable accidents or events, and report findings and metrics to senior leadership
  • Define and support activities related to fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety concerns
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and navigating the plant with alert behavior
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety standards and ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards
  • All other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or environmental engineering preferred; may substitute with direct applicable work experience on a year-for-year basis, which built competencies and subject matter expertise
  • Knowledge of federal and state occupational, health, and safety regulations, especially OSHA standards
  • Demonstrated success in implementing, improving, and managing programs, communication, training, and reporting related to health and safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Tech-savvy with MS Office (especially Excel)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires Professional Certification or ability to obtain one within one year:
    • GSP - Graduate Safety Professional
    • ASP – Associate Safety Professional
    • CSP – Certified Safety Professional
  • Project management skills
  • Effective communication at all levels of organization
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
