Job description

Summary of Responsibility:

To provide transportation services for the residents, as structured by community management.

Duties:

  1. Drive the community vehicles in a safe, legal manner, obeying all traffic laws.
  2. Check with the supervisor prior to beginning the first run for a quick briefing and update of the schedule for the day.
  3. Upon arrival at a destination, the driver is to assist passengers into and out of the vehicle; then escort the resident(s) into the location of their appointment/destination.
  4. Responsible for the care and maintenance of the vehicles, including re-fueling, checking fluid levels and having the vehicles washed.
  5. Notify supervisor or management of any operational concern.
  6. Notify supervisor or management if there was any problem or occurrence involving a resident. Complete necessary report.
  7. Perform transportation for errands related specifically to management needs, and as requested.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: 

  • Ability to read, write, and speak standard English; and follow written and oral instructions in standard English.
  • General knowledge of basic auto mechanics and how to make simple repairs, change a tire, etc.
  • Possess a current and valid driver's license.
  • Ability to relate positively and effectively with senior residents.
  • Ability to interact effectively and cohesively with staff members, residents, and members of the general public. Ability to work independently.
  • 1-3 years of previous driving experience.
  • Current and Valid Chauffeur's License (optional for some states)
  • Successfully complete a C.P.R. and First Aid course, and possess a current C.P.R. & First Aid certificate
