Job description

FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER EI&C (San Antonio & New Braunfels)

We are seeking a motivated Field Service Engineer with knowledge on Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EI&C) to support equipment installation, service, and customer assistance.

This hands-on role is ideal for a developing engineer who can learn quickly, communicate effectively, and support customers both remotely and on-site. When not traveling, the position is based at our San Antonio office or principal customer at New Braunfels.

Why Join Us?

·       Ownership and Support: Take initiative, follow up on service cases, and contribute directly to customer satisfaction.

·       Technical Learning: Gain exposure to industrial automation technologies such as PLCs, HMIs, drives, and control systems.

·       Regional Exposure: Work from San Antonio while supporting customer sites with 20–30% travel across North America, plus occasional training trips to Germany or Mexico.

Responsibilities:
1. Support equipment installations, customer training, technical assistance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and repairs.

2. Communicate with customers and internal teams to ensure timely follow-up and resolution of service cases.

3. Provide application and process support for existing and potential customers, including equipment demonstrations when needed.

4. Assist factory teams with documentation, software checks, quality reviews, and product improvement activities.

5. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues, with training and assisted support from senior team members as required.

6. Strong electrical, mechanical and pneumatic competence, working safely on 480V, reading a schematic and narrowing down a fault, working independently at a customer site.

7. Travel 20–30% for multi-day customer site visits, with flexibility for schedule changes and occasional weekend travel.

Requirements & Qualifications

1. Education: Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, technical diploma, or equivalent hands-on technical experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or related fields.

2. Experience: 3 or more years of technical service, maintenance, manufacturing, testing equipment, or automation-related experience. Early graduated candidates with strong technical aptitude may be considered.

3. EI&C Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and controls concepts is preferred.

4. Automation & PLC Knowledge: knowledge of PLCs and ability to read existing programs for troubleshooting. Exposure to Beckhoff, Siemens, Schneider, or Allen-Bradley is a plus.

5. HMI, Drives & Networks: Basic familiarity with HMIs, drives, and industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP is preferred.

6. Robotics: Understanding of industrial robotics, systems such as Stäubli, Mitsubishi, or KUKA.

7. Troubleshooting: Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with strong logic, curiosity, and problem-solving ability.

8. Schematics: Ability to read electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics. Experience with control panels is a plus.

9. Plus-Factors: Exposure to vision systems, control systems, or industrial equipment is desirable but not required.

10. Location & Travel: Willingness to travel 20–30% for customer site visits. When not traveling, work from the San Antonio office and demo facility.

11. Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects and work comfortably in confined spaces.

12. Soft Skills: Self-motivated, proactive, organized, and able to communicate clearly with customers and internal teams. Strong PC skills required.
