Job description

JOB SUMMARY New Valley is seeking a talented and ambitious professional willing and able to contribute to the success of the Bank. Under the direction of the Credit Officer, the Senior Credit Analyst will work collaboratively and independently to support the loan origination and portfolio review initiatives of the Lending Department. Qualified candidates will have a proven ability to evaluate and determine the credit risks of commercial clients through detailed financial statement analysis, industry assessment, collateral valuation, cash flow analysis and the ability to repay annual debt service, while providing insight and assessments as to the credit worthiness of Borrowers. The position is a hybrid role, with scheduled remote work days allowed after the initial 90 days of employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe role expectations require an independent and seasoned commercial credit analyst with several years of experience in credit underwriting and analysis, for both CRE and C&I customers. The candidate should be able to produce credit reviews and presentations for new and existing Customers with minimal training and guidance, while meeting deadlines for completion. Perform detailed and insightful credit analysis for use in the lending decision of new credit approvals and renewals, while assigning a risk rating and providing an independent recommendation to officers.Work with Lenders and Portfolio Managers to complete underwriting assignments and tasks. Utilize Abrigo Sageworks to create financial summaries, credit presentations, and other reports, while accurately maintaining the Bank's customer and financial database. Maintain reports and tracking metrics for the Bank Portfolio and Borrowers, as needed. Monitors policy compliance by verifying adherence to the Commercial Credit policiesProvide mentorship and guidance for junior analysts and other team members. Adheres to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with regulatory standards and policies Maintains New Valley control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Completes other related duties as assigned including customer onboarding and systems related maintenance. New Valley Bank and Trust employees must follow all policies and procedures related to their position and any laws, rules or compliance regulations that apply in the accomplishment of their assigned duties, while also using good judgment and ethical standards.QUALIFICATIONS Education Minimum of 3 years' experience in commercial credit or public accounting, preferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred Skills and Experience Commercial Underwriting Expertise and knowledgeWorking knowledge of related Underwriting software programsStrong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication, and computer skills
