Job description

About the Role
Donegal Insurance Group has an opening for a inside/desk Loss Control Consultant. As a member of our Commercial Lines Loss Control unit, this position will be responsible for providing risk management/loss control services to our insured and gather critical risk assessment information for the underwriting staff. Ideal candidates will be able to identify potential risks associated with various accounts and provide factual data to the underwriting staff with recommendations to reduce the risk factors.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conduct daily reviews of vendor and consultant risk assessments; ensure that risk surveys or reports are informative and give a clear picture of the potential risk factors of the account
  • Collect objective data on various accounts and supply meaningful risk information to the underwriter that addresses UW guidelines in conformance with applicable codes and regulations
  • Provide loss control services in a manner that is viewed as an added benefit or service to the insured while at the same time reducing the risk factors of the account
  • Assist in the completion of vendor quality reviews for risk assessments.
  • Administer training and safety programs tailored to individual risk needs and market partners in both written and personal presentation environments using appropriate presentation materials
  • Maintain PC skills to include remote access to Donegal systems, workflows and web based technical support resources
  • Consult with the underwriter to provide additional account feedback when necessary
  • Conduct field visits and complete on-site risk surveys as needed
  • Prepare risk surveys for submission to Loss Control and Underwriting
  • Maintain all professional designations/certifications as required by the regulatory bodies for the territory served for loss control services
  • Demonstrate a professional positive image to our insureds, agents and underwriters

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Safety Management, or related field.
  • Demonstration of self-development by working towards attainment of professional insurance designations, CSP, ARM, CIH, PE, CPCU, etc.
  • Past property/casualty insurance experience and experience as a loss control representative is beneficial
  • Industry or line of coverage specialization isn't required but is beneficial
Starting Pay: The pay range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 annually. The specific offer will vary based on an applicant's education, qualifications, professional experience, skills, abilities, and any applicable designations/certifications. The posted pay range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience. The pay range may also be adjusted based on an applicant's geographic location.
