The Senior Actuary provides senior-level actuarial expertise to guide strategic decision-making, profitability, and risk management across the organization’s insurance portfolio. 


This position offers both remote and hybrid work locations. Candidates who reside within 50 miles of an office location (West Bend, Madison, Appleton) will be offered a hybrid work schedule. Candidates who are fully remote (beyond 50 miles) may occasionally be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and corporate events.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead advanced actuarial analyses across reserving, pricing, reinsurance, and predictive modeling
  • Conduct deep dives into reserving segments – identifying trends, testing assumptions, and uncovering key drivers
  • Partner closely with Claims, Underwriting, Finance, and leadership to translate data into actionable insights
  • Enhance and automate reserving processes, bringing fresh thinking and innovation to how work gets done
  • Strengthen governance frameworks and ensure adherence to actuarial standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support financial reporting through reserve adequacy analysis and auditor collaboration
  • Communicate complex trends and risk insights in a clear, business-focused way
  • Mentor and develop actuarial team members, contributing to a strong, collaborative culture

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of actuarial experience within property & casualty insurance
  • Deep expertise in reserving, pricing, and risk modeling
  • Experience with predictive analytics, GLMs, and/or data science techniques
  • Strong understanding of insurance operations, including claims and underwriting dynamics
  • Ability to translate technical analysis into clear, business-relevant recommendations
  • Proven ability to collaborate, influence, and lead across teams
  • A natural curiosity and drive to continuously improve processes and outcomes

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)

The estimated salary range for this position is $157,000-$220,000. 

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
