JOB SUMMARY

The process engineer uses understanding of process fundamentals, process equipment, refinery practices, and specific technologies to ensure safe, environmentally friendly, reliable, and optimal refinery operation while coordinating and influencing the achievement of these objectives utilizing data driven critical thinking.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (Required)
  • In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) or more years Process engineering experience or equivalent ability in refining industry required (Required)
  • No Licensure or Certification Required.

  • Assists senior engineers with data collection and analysis for identification of short- and long-term process changes to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency
  • Conducts process operations analysis and economic evaluation using simulation software
  • Participates in the evaluation of equipment design and process development to compromise between process requirements, economics, operator effectiveness and environment/safety objectives
  • Participates in operator process training classes, Management of Change (MOC) development, process hazard analysis (PHAs) and piping and instrumentation diagram/drawing (P&ID) verification
  • Develops and maintains critical cross-functional relationships (i.e., refinery economics, operations, lab, maintenance, etc.) to optimize unit performance to constraints
  • Employs industry best practices and standards to compare actual operation to the intended process design with advantages and disadvantages
