Job description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Broking team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in Atlanta, San Francisco, Tampa, Dallas, Minneapolis, and New York. It's a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.

Our Impact in the Reinsurance Market

A dynamic and renowned innovator in the reinsurance broking space, Guy Carpenter helps insurance companies find new ways to manage their risk. As a reinsurance intermediary, Guy Carpenter’s colleagues have a unique opportunity to pursue a career that marries investment banking and consulting. Similar to an investment bank, we broker a specific type of financial transaction called reinsurance. Comparable to a consulting firm, we leverage our reinsurance expertise to help clients anticipate and navigate change, providing them with a business edge that goes beyond the insurance transaction. Our full company platform includes broking expertise, strategic advisory services, and best‑in‑class analytics, giving insurers the confidence they need to grow and protect their business.

We thrive on working together, harnessing our collective intelligence across teams, borders, and backgrounds. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, innovative, a self‑starter, and enjoys building relationships with clients, reinsurers, and colleagues.

What is Reinsurance?

Reinsurance is a risk transfer agreement that is often referred to as “insurance for insurance companies.” Insurance companies purchase reinsurance from other carriers to protect against the risk of a major claims event. Guy Carpenter supports insurance companies as they navigate the market to find the best reinsurance solutions for their needs. Given the important role we play in global risk mitigation, we enable insurance companies the opportunity to protect individuals against unforeseen loss.

Fulfilling Your Potential

The Risk Analyst role is entry level to the reinsurance broker career track. Our brokers advocate for clients in reinsurance transaction negotiations and advise on risk mitigation techniques; their financial broking expertise drives favorable terms for clients and impacts how insurance companies’ elites make decisions.

As a Risk Analyst at Guy Carpenter, you will:

  • Gain exposure to the firm’s business and knowledge of the reinsurance industry while developing key communications, analytical, marketing, and sales skills.
  • Analyze client data and create reinsurance submissions, and coordinate all broking placement activities of the account.
  • Assist in organizing and preparing presentations that explain industry trends, discuss client options, and recommend strategic solutions to meet client goals.
  • Support senior brokers with client relationship management and sales efforts by providing market research and financial analysis for current and prospective clients.
  • Develop competencies through a comprehensive curriculum centered around networking and collaboration—from communicating with clients and reinsurers to helping renew client reinsurance programs, our Risk Analysts are a vital part of Guy Carpenter’s broking teams.
  • Learn all aspects of the industry and be trained for an Account Executive role as your career unfolds.
Why Guy Carpenter

At Guy Carpenter, you can be your best. We work on challenges that matter with colleagues who help bring out our best.
