Job description

  • Lead the risk management function for The Specialty Alliance, a Cardinal Health subsidiary supporting independent specialty practices
  • Manage domestic and international primary casualty commercial insurance, property, professional liability, umbrella, cyber and other insurance programs
  • Renew insurance policies, present risks to underwriters, negotiate policy terms and conditions, and ensure compliance with country insurance regulations
  • Support required submissions and underwriting inquiries
  • Supervise and develop the Senior Risk Analyst
  • Direct insurance brokers on renewal strategies, carrier selection, coverage and premium negotiations, and placement
  • Establish relationships with worldwide insurance markets to ensure capacity for risk exposures
  • Work with actuaries on quarterly reserve analysis and communicate results to internal stakeholders
  • Prepare operational and risk management reports, including insurance costs, budgets, forecasts and historical loss experience
  • Recommend insurance budgets and determine business-unit allocations for premium and retained-risk costs
  • Serve as a departmental RMIS subject matter expert
  • Perform risk due diligence for potential acquisitions and manage integration into company insurance programs
  • Identify and classify new risk exposures and recommend risk retention or transfer
  • Review vendor and customer contracts, negotiate insurance provisions, and advise on indemnification obligations
  • Manage and participate in risk management projects
  • Develop technical knowledge and apply risk management expertise to support stakeholders, innovation and business objectives
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • 8+ years of equivalent risk management experience
  • 2+ years of manager experience
  • Ability to define problems, collect data and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to make sound business judgments and decisions based on summary information
  • Ability to interpret applicable laws, regulations and contracts
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strategic planning, resource organization and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to summarize and analyze financial matters into clear, concise presentations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Expert or advanced Excel skills preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Operational Excellence or RMIS experience is a plus
