Senior Risk Specialist | Retail Bank

The Conduct Risk and Sales Practices Program team supporting the Retail Risk MPG (Monitoring, Process, & Governance) mission is a passionate and dynamic team of risk professionals focused on enhancing the risk profile of our Retail Bank and Premium Products business through execution of certain mission-critical risk, process, and control programs.

We are seeking an inquisitive and organized team player to join us as Senior Risk Associate. As part of this horizontal 1st Line risk management function, this associate will have the unique opportunity to become a subject matter expert in the processes and controls across specific business areas within our Retail Bank , Premium Products, Capital One Shopping and Enterprise Payments organization.

Day-to-day, this associate will be working with select business, Compliance, Human Resources and Risk stakeholders to consult and engage on various associate conduct risk and sales practice monitoring activities as well as participate in other related associate conduct or sales culture consultation and improvement initiatives.

As a Senior Risk Associate, you will:

  • Assist in the execution of compliance monitoring program activities to identify potential associate conduct concerns

  • Analyze certain data to identify associate misconduct and sales practice trends

  • Convey complex ideas and data analysis through written and verbal communication confidently to various operational and compliance stakeholders.

  • Support management in various conduct risk and sales culture practices including assisting with certain risk assessments for Senior Management

  • Help with the identification and resolution of operational issues impacting customers stemming from process breakdowns or other problems while developing permanent corrective actions

  • Identify control gaps and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement

  • Partner with Retail Banking and Premium Product groups to help document policies, processes, standards, and procedures to facilitate/demonstrate compliance with laws and regulations

  • Proactively identify control enhancements and drive requirement gathering

  • Work autonomously and consistently deliver results in an efficient and timely manner

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of Process Management experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in Risk Management, Audit, Regulatory Compliance or Banking Operations

  • At least 2 years of experience in Retail Banking or Financial Services

  • At least 2 years of experience with GSuite and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in Project or Process Management

  • 2+ year of experience in Controls Testing or Risk Management

  • 1+ year of experience in Change Management

  • 1+ year of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Risk Associate


Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Risk Associate










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
