Senior Risk Adjustment Auditor information

What is a senior risk adjustment auditor?

Senior Risk Adjustment Auditors are experienced professionals who review medical records and data to ensure accurate coding and documentation for risk adjustment purposes, primarily in healthcare settings. They help organizations comply with government regulations and maximize appropriate reimbursement by identifying and correcting coding errors or gaps. Their role involves analyzing patient data, collaborating with coding teams, and providing feedback or training to improve documentation practices. Senior auditors often have advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding, risk adjustment models (such as HCC), and auditing standards. Their expertise helps healthcare organizations maintain compliance and optimize financial performance.

How does a senior risk adjustment auditor typically collaborate with coding teams and healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation and coding?

A Senior Risk Adjustment Auditor often works closely with medical coding teams and healthcare providers to review patient records for accuracy and compliance with risk adjustment guidelines. This collaboration may involve providing feedback on documentation quality, clarifying coding ambiguities, and offering training or guidance on best practices. Regular meetings and audits help ensure that everyone is aligned with current regulations and organizational standards. Effective communication and teamwork are essential to maintain high-quality, compliant coding that supports proper reimbursement and patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior risk adjustment auditor?

To thrive as a Senior Risk Adjustment Auditor, you need deep expertise in medical coding (ICD-10-CM), risk adjustment methodologies, and a background in healthcare compliance, typically supported by certifications such as CRC, CPC, or CCS-P. Familiarity with auditing platforms, data analysis tools, and electronic medical records systems is crucial. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills help auditors identify discrepancies and effectively collaborate with providers. These competencies ensure accurate risk scoring, regulatory compliance, and optimal reimbursement for healthcare organizations.

Job description

Join Treasury and Chief Investment Office (TCIO) at JPMorgan and take part in firm-wide asset and liability management for one of the world's largest global financial institutions, managing a $4.5 trillion balance sheet, which includes over $1.4 trillion in loans and $2.5 trillion in deposits. Positioned at the center of the firm, TCIO directly influences the composition of the firm's balance sheet and the activities of its main LOBs: Asset Management (AM), Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) and Consumer & Community Banking (CCB).
As a Liquidity Risk Reporting Vice President in the Corporate Treasury Middle Office (CTMO), part of the TCIO organization, you will support the Firm's daily external liquidity reporting. You will be part of a team responsible for overseeing the operating model that supports data aggregation used in the firm's risk reporting process (e.g., balance sheet details, forecasts, and assumptions). This includes executing key data integrity controls, reconciliations, adjustments, and analytics. You will also coordinate the production of several firm-wide, LOB, and legal entity-level risk reports (e.g., FR2052a, LCR, NSFR, Stress) by agreed deadlines. This involves collaborating with global contacts to quickly research and explain variances in key risk measures and facilitating sign-off by senior risk stakeholders before report distribution internally and to regulators.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and attest to the quality of liquidity risk data daily across all legal entities, establishing enterprise data quality standards, materiality thresholds, and escalation protocols; ensure evidence retention and audit readiness.
  • Direct the industrialization of product reconciliations and daily balance sheet variance analysis, moving from manual reviews to automated, scalable pipelines with lineage and control checkpoints.
  • Prepare, analyze, and provide commentary for internal and external reports to stakeholders.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify and implement business validation rules to support the transition to an exception-based operating model.
  • Set the modernization roadmap and standards for the analytics/tooling stack (Tableau, Excel, Python), driving consolidation, scalability, and resiliency across solutions.
  • Determine business drivers behind variances and communicate impacts to partner groups such as Liquidity Risk Management and Liquidity Management.
  • Partner with internal data source providers and risk stakeholders across all lines of business to complete data investigations and resolve data quality issues, aiming to improve the timeliness and accuracy of all risk reporting continuously.
  • Respond to internal or regulatory requests to complete ad hoc data analysis or produce custom reports as needed.
  • Support LRI tech/business enhancements and assist in technology-related developments, ensuring appropriate prioritization and end-user testing.
  • Continually identify and enhance the overall control environment and operating model across core operational activities, improving timeliness and reducing operational risk to the firm.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities:
  • 8+ years of experience in treasury, financial reporting or risk/data operations, balance sheet analysis, and/or asset and liability or liquidity management.
  • Expert analytical and diagnostic skills, with a track record of structuring ambiguous problems and driving data-driven decisions for senior stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership experience, including the ability to facilitate project and process improvements across a large organization.
  • Strong technical leadership with hands-on depth in SQL and Python; advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Tableau and Alteryx.
  • Independent, principled decision-maker with clear trade-off articulation under time pressure; escalates effectively and drives to sustainable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through high-stakes deadlines and regulatory commitments; establishes execution discipline, risk-aware prioritization, and clear accountability.
  • Operates with ownership and urgency; sets operating mechanisms, cadences, and standards that scale across teams with minimal oversight.
  • Executive communication excellence; crafts concise narratives, risk positions, and options; influences senior forums and regulatory interactions.
  • People leadership of analysts and associates, including hiring, staffing, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Ownership of governance forums for data quality and operational risk; accountable for control health metrics, remediation plans, and audit readiness.
  • Own end-to-end lifecycle of AI-enabled solutions for liquidity data quality, reconciliations, and variance analysis with human review, monitoring, and governance.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities:
  • Experience with SQL, Python, or data visualization tools such as Tableau is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field preferred. Relevant certifications in cloud, data engineering, or ML/AI are advantageous.
