Description
Facility Management Corporation, known as "FMC Ice Sports" was formed in 1992 to deliver high quality ice sport facility management and operations, as well as ice-based programs that benefit our communities and promote interest in both hockey and skating. We have established a record of quality operations and have grown to be the largest operator of public arenas in the United States. FMC operates 25 public ice skating arenas across the state of Massachusetts in long-term partnership agreements with the Commonwealth and various municipalities as well as educational institutions.
Working under the direction of the Senior Maintenance Technician, perform painting, finishing and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures; perform carpentry repairs and new construction; perform related work as required. Work schedule may include a condensed schedule and rotational on call. Travel to all 26 locations required. Company vehicle provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares, primes, sands, seals, patches and paints surfaces, buildings, fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, and epoxy, water-proofing and heat-resistant finishes.
  • Tapes, flushes, repairs and applies texturing, wallpaper, and acoustic layers on a variety of surfaces. Adjusts colors when necessary; utilizes enhanced finishing skills when appropriate.
  • Applies materials to new construction, existing, multi-story buildings, alterations and remodeling's.
  • Graffiti response and removal using a variety of available products and soda blasting.
  • Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers and electrostatic sprayers, pumps, etc. Safely stores and labels all materials.
  • Maintains and repairs soda blasting compressor and accessories.
  • Performs carpentry repairs and new construction.
  • Operates, cleans and maintains all carpentry equipment, including woodworking machines, hand tools and power tools. Safely stores and labels all materials.
  • Estimates time and materials required; keeps computerized records and submits reports of work performed. Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
  • Select and order lumber and other required materials.
  • Erects scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
  • Reads and understands blueprints.
  • Offers assistance and advice on materials, designs and color.
  • Research, purchase and inventories equipment parts, chemicals and supplies.
  • Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.
  • Maintain a professional courteous manner with all customers, vendors, contractors and fellow employees.
  • Adhere to and uphold all FMC rules and policies, including the Mission Statement and Patron's Creed.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned by the Senior Maintenance Technician and Director of Operations and Maintenance.

Requirements
  • A minimum of four years' directly relatable experience or advanced training as a painter/carpenter.
  • A minimum of four years' work experience in a residential, commercial, industrial or facilities operations setting, both interior and exterior.
  • Completion of courses or certifications typically acquired through a trade or technical school preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to analyze situations and develop solutions to problems with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess knowledge of practices and processes of painting and carpentry trades, including techniques, materials and safety.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must consent to a CORI/SORI and background check.

Full-time position with flexibility to be year round or seasonal (March - August).
Benefits: Eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401K and earned time after eligibility period is met.
Compensation: $22 - $28 per hour
