Job description

The PENTA Building Group is looking for Senior Superintendents to join our Hard Rock Casino Tejon team in Mettler, CA (Bakersfield)!
A PENTA Senior Superintendent is responsible for the effective management of all field operations on the project; and, in conjunction with the Project Manager, assumes overall responsibility and accountability for all factors contributing to the success of the project. 
 
A PENTA Sr. Superintendent will also:
  • Champion PENTA’s safety culture on the jobsite. This includes overseeing compliance with OSHA and all requirements outlined in the Corporate Safety Manual and Assignment of Responsibilities. 
  • Be the project leader, create agenda, and conduct field subcontractor coordination meetings and owner's meetings with minor oversight from General Superintendent or Project Executive. 
  • Lead and manage the start-up process to ensure PENTA's project start up policies and procedures are enforced. Make sure superintendents are involved in the process as required. 
  • Provide oversight of submittal/approval/delivery process to ensure that there will be no delays to the construction schedule. Understand what unusual conditions may exist that will affect deliveries.  
  • Ensure daily reports are being written, review for quality, and verify all action items are being addressed. 
  • Assist superintendents with all hoisting plan requirements (crane and personnel hoists). Be able to recognize all aspects of hoist requirements for erection, rigging, hoisting operations, and dismantlement. Able to do crane and hoist analysis. 
  • Work with PMs regarding buy-out and procurement for all areas of the project.  
  • Monitor crew sizes for budget compliance. Sit in preconstruction meetings to assist in developing crew sizes, production rates, and equipment needs. 
  • Preplan and schedule life safety system testing scenarios, including number of teams, contractors involved, and in which areas to start in along with sequence throughout the project. 
  • Create job site specific policy; review and approve subcontractor's QA/QC policy; ensure field compliance, work closely with QC department to ensure they are engaged and informed of the project prior to installation. 
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of reports for project close-out. 
  • Responsible for leading BIM/VDC coordination meetings and ensure that all subcontractors are participating as required. Provide resolutions to design team for design flaws. 
  • Lead in developing and updating the project master schedule; coordinate with subcontractors to verify accuracy of durations for their work and enforce those durations.  
  • Have a thorough understanding of all subcontractor scopes; participate in de-scope meetings. 
  • Assist in the development subcontract Exhibit A prior to award and provide recommendations to minimize scope gap and schedule impacts.   
  • Review the PCO log weekly with project team. 
  • Lead, teach, and mentor other project team members such as Project Engineers, Interns, Superintendents, etc. 
  • Other duties as assigned that may not be listed here. 
 
We trust that you have: 
  • 7-10 years of experience in a Construction Superintendent role, or minimum 10+ years equivalence working in a field related management position
  • Experience working on commercial hospitality and/or tribal construction projects is highly preferred
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification is required
  • Degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred
  • Fluency in reading, quantifying, and analyzing construction drawings
  • Proficiency in utilizing programs such as P6, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Build
  • Competent understanding of construction scheduling and sequencing
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and strong organizational and time management
  • Flexibility and eagerness to embrace new technology and tools in the industry
  • Ability to work on-site at our Tejon Hard Rock Casino jobsite in Mettler, CA. Or, flexibility to travel to or fully relocate for this project if not within a reasonable local commuting distance.
  • Salary Range DOE $120,000 - $170,000
 
The PENTA Building Group maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs, and market demands. The pay range may differ in other locations. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors and is in good faith and/or offer for this position.
