Job description

Odyssey Technical Solutions is a state-of-the-art Repair Facility located in Round Rock, Texas that specializes in RF Generators, AutoMatch Networks, DC Power Supplies, Remote Plasma Systems, and Microwave Generators/Power Supplies. We celebrated our 24-year anniversary in August 2024 and have moved into our new Round Rock Headquarters July 2016.

JOB SUMMARY

Odyssey Technical Solutions has an immediate opening for an experienced RF Engineer in Round Rock, TX.

This position supports Odyssey’s core business of repairing critical power delivery systems. Applications for this equipment vary but are typically used to generate and sustain Plasma loads for Films Deposition, Etching, and Coatings in various industries, including Semiconductor Processing, Medical Imaging, Industrial Coatings, and Photovoltaic panels.

The RF Engineer will be a critical part of an Engineering Team. The position will work with an exciting range of assignments, including problem-solving, analysis of designs, reversing engineering of existing systems, improvement of existing OEM designs, component engineering, and quick turn prototyping of electrical and mechanical ideas. Odyssey is a fast-paced, active, hands-on position with a highly skilled and motivated team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A BSEE or MSEE degree from an ABET accredited university
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Practical experience in Design, Analysis, and Fabrication of RF Delivery Systems, including Generators, Matching Networks, and Transmission Lines
  • Experience with Magnetrons used in microwave generators and associated waveguides.
  • Demonstrated competencies in Analog Circuits Design, Schematic Capture, PCB Layout, Prototyping (electrical and mechanical), Thermal Analysis, Impedance Matching, and Component evaluation
  • Experience must include working with RF power levels up to 50kW with frequency ranges to 200MHz
  • Knowledge of RF power amplifier design (class A, B, C through E)
  • Passive network design (filters, combiners, splitters, and matching)
  • A working knowledge of RF simulation tools such as Agilent’s Genesys (or ADS), Sonnet (2.5D), and LTspice or EDA equivalent(s)
  • Experience utilizing test equipment such as Network/Spectrum analyzers and test equipment used by a person skilled in testing and repairing High Power RF Systems
  • A background in Amateur Radio with a track record of building projects and experimenting with radio equipment would be a plus.
  • Problem-solving skills such as Ishikawa diagrams
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation
  • Experience with bench shop tools
  • Knowledge of electrical safety procedures
  • Good communication across functional teams
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and teach others methods and techniques
  • Use of the Microsoft Office Suite of productivity tools
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Possess a strong work ethic and maintain a positive attitude while working under deadlines
