Le candidat retenu formulera des recommandations et exercera une influence sur la verification et la validation du systeme Telesat Lightspeed.
La personne retenue devra travailler sur place au moins quatre (4) jours par semaine
Principales responsabilites :

  • Elaborer des matrices de verification pour les exigences du systeme relatives aux liaisons d'alimentation et aux liaisons utilisateur, notamment : l'utilisation du spectre, la taille des porteuses, la polarisation et le controle de la puissance
  • Scenarios d'etablissement, de maintien et de degradation des liaisons
  • Concevoir et executer des essais visant a valider : les limites de couverture et d'elevation des liaisons d'alimentation et des liaisons utilisateur, l'attribution du spectre par emplacement UT/LS, le comportement des liaisons en cas d'evanouissement, d'interference et de coupure
  • Agir a titre d'expert de la couche de liaison pour le fonctionnement des liaisons DVB-S2X, DVB-RCS2 et en bande Ka.
  • Effectuer des essais pratiques de liaison dans le laboratoire LEO, notamment : l'emulation de canal, les degradations de
    liaison, l'agregation de porteuses et la flexibilite du spectre
  • Configurer et faire fonctionner des emulateurs de liaisons par satellite, des generateurs de signaux, des analyseurs de spectre et des generateurs de trafic.
  • S'assurer que le produit teste repond aux exigences techniques, fonctionnelles, de performance et d'affaires.
  • Travailler en etroite collaboration avec les fournisseurs d'antennes, les equipes chargees des modems et les ingenieurs en
  • RF afin de valider le comportement de la liaison de bout en bout.
  • Appuyer la planification et l'execution des essais OTA pour les liaisons d'alimentation et les liaisons utilisateur.
  • Appuyer les activites de planification de l'acceptation du systeme pour les phases LEOP et IOT.
  • Collaborer avec d'autres segments tels que DevOps, les systemes au sol et les satellites, et favoriser un environnement collaboratif et innovant
     

Formation et experience requises :

  • Baccalaureat en genie electrique, en genie informatique ou en genie des systemes, et au moins 12 ans d'experience pertinente en communications par satellite
  • Au moins 5 ans d'experience professionnelle avec differents types d'antennes, notamment les antennes a panneau plat, les antennes paraboliques et les antennes aeronautiques (bande Ka de preference)
  • Au moins 5 ans d'experience professionnelle dans les systemes de communication RF par satellite, avec une solide connaissance des techniques de modulation et de codage utilisees dans les normes modernes telles que DVB-S2(X) et DVB-RCS2
  • Solide comprehension des principes d'ingenierie RF, des pratiques de conception, ainsi que de la conception, de la validation et des essais des liaisons d'alimentation et d'utilisateur.
  • Experience pratique de l'utilisation d'equipements de test RF (oscilloscopes, generateurs de signaux, analyseurs de spectre, emulateur de canal satellite)
  • Solide comprehension des bilans de liaison en bande Ka, de la polarisation, de l'ACM et des effets d'interference.
  • Comprehension averee des interfaces radio, des technologies de modem, de la modulation et du codage, ainsi que de leur impact sur la performance de la liaison par satellite
  • Experience en analyse des bilans de liaison par satellite, avec une bonne comprehension des effets des perturbations sur la performance de la liaison
  • Experience des outils de gestion des cas d'essai et de suivi des defauts (Jira, Jama)
  • Capacite averee a communiquer efficacement avec la direction, les equipes d'ingenierie et les partenaires/fournisseurs.
  • Connaissance des methodologies de developpement Agile.
  • Experience de travail avec des equipes dispersees geographiquement.
     

Qualifications souhaitees :

  • Experience avec differents fournisseurs d'antennes en bande Ka
  • Experience avec les antennes a panneau plat et les antennes aeronautiques (de preference en bande Ka)
  • Experience avec les BUC/LNB et diverses technologies d'antennes
  • Experience dans les activites de planification pour la phase d'exploitation (LEOP) et la phase de mise en service (IOT).
  • Esprit d'equipe et grande capacite a collaborer, capable de gagner rapidement la confiance de ses collegues et coequipiers
  • Experience des normes MEF.
  • Maitrise de MATLAB, Python ou d'un outil similaire
  • Excellentes competences en communication orale et ecrite

The successful candidate will issue recommendations and have influence on the system verification and validation of the Telesat Lightspeed system.
Resource is required to work onsite a minimum of four (4) days per week
 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop verification matrices for feeder and user link system requirements, including Spectrum usage, carrier sizes, polarization, power control
  • Link establishment, maintenance, and degradation scenarios
  • Design and execute tests validating: Feeder/User link coverage and elevation limits, Spectrum assignment by UT/LS location, Link behavior under fading, interference, and outage conditions
  • Serve as Link Layer SME for DVB S2X, DVB RCS2, and Ka band link operation.
  • Perform hands on link testing in the LEO Lab, including Channel emulation, Link impairments, Carrier aggregation and spectrum flexibility
  • Configure and operate satellite link emulators, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and traffic generators.
  • Ensure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirements.
  • Work closely with antenna vendors, modem teams, and RF engineers to validate end to end link behavior.
  • Support OTA test planning and execution for feeder and user links.
  • Support System Acceptance Planning activities for the LEOP and IOT.
  • Work with other segments like DevOps, Ground Systems, Satellite and foster a collaborative and innovative environment
 
Education & Experience Required:
 
  • B. Sc. in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in satellite communications
  • 5+ years of work experience in different antenna types like Flat Panel Antenna, Parabolic and Aero Antenna (Ka band preferable)
  • 5+ years of work experience in Satellite RF communication systems with strong exposure on modulation and coding used in modern standards like DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2
  • Strong understanding of RF engineering Principles, Design Practices, Feeder/User link test design, validation, and testing.
  • Hands on experience using RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, satellite channel emulator)
  • Strong understanding of Ka band link budgets, polarization, ACM, and interference effects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performance
  • Experience with satellite link budget analyses with good understanding of effects of impairments on the link performance
  • Experience in test case and defect tracking tools (Jira, Jama)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliers.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
     
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Experience with different Ka band antenna vendors
  • Experience with Flat Panel Antenna and Aero Antenna (Ka band preferable)
  • Experience with BUC/LNB and various Antenna technologies
  • Experience in Planning activities for the LEOP and IOT.
  • Highly collaborative team player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates
  • Experience in MEF standards.
  • Proficient with MATLAB, Python, or similar
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
