What We're Looking For:

The Enterprise Mobile Computing (EMC) Handheld RF Development team is responsible for the design of next generation ruggedized wireless handheld products for Enterprise markets including Retail, Transport & Logistics, Industrial, Healthcare and Public Safety markets. Products incorporate multiple RF technologies including 4G/5G WWAN, Wi-Fi, BT/BLE, GPS, NFC and UHF RFID. Members of the RF hardware team are responsible to design and integrate complex multi-RAT systems into small, highly ruggedized form factors while meeting challenging Enterprise performance requirements for connectivity.
The Senior RF Design Engineer will be responsible to develop, design, model, and tests radio frequency transmitters and receiver circuit subsystems in the 700MHz - 10GHz range. The engineer will be responsible for developing products from concept phase to production release. A key responsibility of this senior role is also to proactively investigate, learn, and implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to innovate our engineering processes and drive significant gains in efficiency.
The candidate will work with other in-house RF, Antenna, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineers as well as off-shore Joint-Development-Partners (JDMs) in the design and manufacture of these Mobile Computing Handheld products.
This role is a hybrid position based out of our Mississauga, ON Canada office and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. Zebra reserves the right to modify your work location based on business need.
  • Establishes requirements for moderately complex RF design projects
  • Completes all phases of moderately complex RF design projects including system design/cascade and link budget analysis, circuit design, simulation, schematic, layout and RF validation
  • Proactively research, evaluate, and implement emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to continuously improve RF design, testing, and system optimization processes
  • Performs RF analysis and simulation for design, optimization and debug
  • Drives and/or Supports customer and cross-functional issue debug for system level issues
  • Drives EMI/EMC trouble shooting and validation
  • Works with internal cross-functional teams and external JDMs/CMs to successfully bring Handheld products to market
  • Drives RF lab capability development and works with Lab team on test strategy and new technology capability
  • Work with Antenna team members on system requirements, design, validation and debug
  • Works cross-functionally with Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, SW engineering and System Test on system design, test plan development and issue debug
  • Applies existing technology in new ways to improve performance and productivity
  • Consider latest technologies and new approaches to improve designs and implementation of the design
  • Reviews changes or upgrades to existing applications
  • Develops new technology to solve unique problems
  • May develop new tools and processes to aid in the analysis and solving of problems as well as efficiency improvement
  • Prioritizes quality and seeks out improvements in all aspects of RF projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 6+ year experience.
  • Experienced board level RF circuit designer, RF Circuit tuning, troubleshooting and testing.
  • Must be familiar with VNA's, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, RF Power Meters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RF design experience in the 450MHz to 10GHz range
  • 5G WAN and/or Wi-Fi6/7 Experience highly preferred, GPS/BLE/RFID/UWB also a plus
  • RF aspects of a complete mobile product development lifecycle.
  • RF Design for FCC/ETSI/3GPP compliance & recent success cases.
  • Hands-on RF circuit/system testing experience including cabled and radiated methods.
  • Noise / RF interference mitigation and troubleshooting methods.
  • RF System integration (Radio/Antenna) optimization and debugging.
  • Project management of RF/Radio development and System integration.
  • Experience with ADS, CST, Cadence design tools

Pay Range:

$90,960.00 - $136,440.00 Annual

Incentive Compensation:

In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 10% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
