Job description

Job Title: Senior Associate, Network Planning Engineer

Job Code: 40184

Job Description:

  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of the Network Optical Backbone SONET equipment, RF Microwave radios, FTI Satellite equipment and Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) circuits.
  • Review network event data and determine causes of alarms and events to conduct efforts to resolve network event issues.
  • Schedule, track, and perform maintenance on FTI Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and services.
  • Submits Program Tracking Reports (PTR) for facility, equipment, and service changes.
  • Partner with the Tier 1 team to help facilitate learning, technical direction, and the flow of operations, and assist in creating detailed documentation for technical and training purposes.
  • Orders replacement parts for repair activities and tracks shipment.
  • Periodically supports on-call responsibilities and work after-hours as required.
  • Assist Operations Management with daily and monthly Metrics reporting.
  • Engineer responsible for Satellite Gateway Moves and Satellite Flyaway Deployments.
  • Ability to obtain a FAA Public Trust Clearance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with RF Microwave radios / hardware and waveguide.
  • Experience with change management, network management, and network technology experience.
  • Experience as a NOS working in the FTI PNOCC troubleshooting all aspects of the FTI/FAA communications network infrastructure.
  • Knowledge FTI/FAA communications network infrastructure.
  • General understanding of NAS Operations ticket management, maintenance processes and procedures, NAS Operations service types and service delivery methods.
  • Experience creating and presenting training documents and technical procedures.
  • Proficient with RF concepts (RF Transmission Theory, Line -of-Sight Communication, FTI Satellite Network Architecture)
