Position: Business Development Representative - Public Sector (Higher Education and Academic Medical Centers)
As a Business Development Representative supporting our Public Sector team, you will play a critical role in driving pipeline growth across strategic Higher Education and Academic Medical Center(AMC) accounts. This role is suited for an experienced BDR with a proven track record in outbound prospecting, account engagement, and pipeline creation within complex, Public Sector environments.
You will focus on new logo acquisition, customer expansion, cross-sell, and upsell opportunities. Partnering closely with Account Executives and cross-functional teams, you will execute targeted account-based strategies, engage senior stakeholders, and build a strong, qualified pipeline aligned with territory growth objectives.
What You'll Do:
  • Drive strategic outbound prospecting across Higher Education and Academic Medical Center accounts - including new logo prospecting and customer expansion through cross-sell and upsell - using multi-channel approaches (calls, email, LinkedIn, events, and campaigns)
  • Conduct in-depth account and market research to identify high-value opportunities within both prospect and existing customer accounts
  • Identify, engage, and build relationships with senior decision-makers and influencers
  • Partner closely with Account Executives to develop and execute account-based strategies and territory plans for both new logo and customer expansion plays
  • Leverage existing customer intelligence to uncover expansion opportunities and support account growth strategies
  • Qualify inbound and marketing-generated leads, converting them into high-quality sales opportunities
  • Clearly articulate the value of Genesys Cloud and CX solutions, aligned to customer challenges and business outcomes
  • Leverage data, insights, and modern tools (e.g., AI, Sales Navigator) to optimize outreach and engagement strategies
  • Consistently generate qualified pipeline aligned with territory revenue targets
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management, activity tracking, and reporting in Salesforce
  • Meet and exceed KPIs related to pipeline creation, meetings, and conversion rates

What You Bring:
  • 1-3+ years of experience in a BDR, SDR, or Inside Sales role within SaaS, CX, cloud, or technology environments
  • Proven experience as an experienced BDR, with strong outbound prospecting and pipeline generation results
  • Strong understanding of the US Public Sector
  • Demonstrated ability to engage mid- to senior-level stakeholders in complex organizations
  • Strong business acumen, curiosity, and strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Experience with Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and modern sales engagement tools

Compensation:
This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance-based bonus opportunities.
