Bright Star Counseling is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to join our team in a full-time remote position. This vital role involves providing psychosocial support, assessments, and counseling services to seniors within our detox center in Thornton, Colorado. This is a remote position, allowing for flexible work arrangements while maintaining a strong focus on client-centered care. Although primarily conducted via telehealth, our social worker will connect with clients virtually, ensuring access to essential counseling services. The work schedule will generally follow a Monday to Friday routine from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening or weekend hours depending on client needs. The position requires flexibility to ensure continuous and effective support for our clients.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of seniors’ psychosocial needs, evaluating emotional, mental, and social determinants affecting their well-being.
• Collaborate with clients and their families to craft personalized care plans that align with the specific goals of each individual.
• Provide ongoing counseling and emotional support, guiding seniors and their families through life transitions and overcoming challenges related to detox and recovery.
• Advocate for clients by ensuring their rights are respected and that they have access to necessary community resources, thereby enhancing their support systems.
• Work seamlessly with interdisciplinary teams, which include healthcare professionals and caregivers, to enhance and coordinate comprehensive care for our clients.
• Conduct regular virtual visits to monitor clients’ progress, assess living conditions, and address any potential safety issues.
• Facilitate family communication, resolving conflicts and strengthening support networks for seniors.
• Educate clients and their families about available community support systems, resources, and programs to encourage social engagement and improve overall quality of life.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of client interactions, assessments, care plans, and progress notes in compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on trends in social work practice, policy changes, and ethical guidelines pertinent to the field.

The primary focus of this role is on senior clients undergoing detoxification and requiring specialized support related to substance use challenges. Our client population often faces complex emotional and social challenges, necessitating a compassionate, informed, and holistic approach to care. By addressing these multifaceted needs, the social worker will play a crucial role in improving life outcomes and promoting well-being among older adults.

• A master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid state licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
• A minimum of two years of experience in social work, particularly in a community or geriatric setting, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of social work principles, aging-related issues, and available community resources for seniors.
• Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and problem-solving skills with an ability to empathize with clients and their families.
• Capacity to effectively communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring integrated client care.
• Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer applications.

• Experience working with senior populations in detox or rehabilitation settings is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with telehealth practices and remote counseling methodologies.
• Advanced training or certifications related to gerontology or substance abuse counseling can enhance candidacy.
