Job description

AmericanAg®, global provider of diversified reinsurance services, is looking for a Senior Reinsurance Analyst to work out of our office in Schaumburg, Illinois. This is a hybrid position working in the office a minimum three days a week.

This team at AmericanAg® plays a critical role in the financial quarter close and the accurate processing of reinsurance contract renewals in our system.

The Senior Reinsurance Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Serving as the primary system administrator for the SICS reinsurance processing system:
    • Setting up and maintaining assumed and ceded contracts and related processing rules
    • Performing batch processing and overseeing workflows critical to operational and financial reporting
    • Leading key components of the financial quarter close process, ensuring SICS outputs are accurate and aligned with accounting timelines
    • Interpreting changing business requirements and determining how they should be implemented within SICS
  • Providing users with data that is easy to access, analyze, and understand through well-designed reporting solutions including:
    • Designing, building, and maintaining BusinessObjects reports, universes, and ad hoc data sources
    • Designing and building Power BI reports, datasets, and applications that support self-service reporting
  • Training employees on how to effectively use BusinessObjects, Power BI, SICS, and data warehouse tools:
    • Providing ongoing support for reporting tools, dashboards, and data access
    • Creating and maintaining user documentation, training guides, and best-practice standards
    • Promoting data literacy across the organization through training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one guidance
  • Designing and building additional applications and utilities as needed to support business operations and reporting:
    • Leading or managing IS projects
    • Collaborating with business units to understand operational needs and delivering solutions that enhance efficiency and data visibility
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the company’s business model, reinsurance operations, financial processes, and strategic priorities:
    • Serving as a liaison between departments to ensure smooth communication and coordination for data- and system-related initiatives
    • Supporting ad hoc data and reporting needs

What is needed for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience working in information systems, preferably insurance or reinsurance information systems. Experience working in SICS is a plus.
  • Experience working in property/casualty insurance and reinsurance
  • Reinsurance accounting experience is a plus
  • Experience with Power BI (reports, data modeling, DAX); BusinessObjects (reports, queries); Microsoft Excel (DAX, Power Query, VBA); and Microsoft Access (forms, queries, modules)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical users
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and support cross-department initiatives
  • CPCU and/or ARe designations are a plus

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $130,000 and $150,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for an annual productivity bonus.
