Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support federal programs within a collaborative, agile development environment. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining complex web-based applications while providing technical leadership and guidance to the development team.
  • The ideal candidate brings strong full-stack expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to team success.
  • This role requires 8-12 years of professional software development experience.

Software Development

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain complex software applications and systems.
  • Interpret functional and technical requirements and translate them into high-quality code.
  • Develop and consume RESTful and SOAP-based web services.
  • Support the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through deployment and maintenance.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide guidance and technical leadership to development resources.
  • Promote adherence to coding standards, architectural guidelines, and best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and performance.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Communicate risks, issues, and technical challenges to project leadership promptly.
  • Take ownership and accountability for assigned tasks and deliverables.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to improving development processes, tools, and team productivity.

Required Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field (required).

Experience

  • Minimum of 8+ years of professional software development experience.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with React, NextJS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of Electron and modern front-end frameworks.
  • Development of SOAP and REST APIs/Web Services.
  • Strong Java/J2EE application development experience.
  • Proficiency with Spring MVC, JSP, JDBC, JPA/OpenJPA, and Hibernate.
  • Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of multi-tier application design and architecture.
  • Experience with JUnit and TDD/TFD methodologies.
  • Proficiency with VS Code, Eclipse, and RAD.
  • Experience using PGAdmin and MongoDB Compass.
  • Familiarity with WebSphere Application Server.
  • Experience with Git and version control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop environments.
  • Ability to develop and support enterprise-scale applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and team collaboration skills.

Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS/CBP clearance is required.
  • Active DHS/CBP clearance is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

Physical Requirements:
