Job Title: Facility Assistant, Student Experience
Department: Office of Student Life
Supervisor: Bradley Taylor, Senior Director for Student Experience
Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00
Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.
Department Description
Student Experience is a division of HPU's Office of Student Life that strives to foster a welcoming and engaging environment for all students that facilitates personal growth and development, a strong sense of campus community, and social engagement. For the scope of this position, the Student Experience team oversees the on-campus cinema & arcade facilities, as well as related student programming.
Job Description
As a student employee under Student Experience, you will gain experience with facility operations, event management, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and customer service. Facility Assistants & Coordinators will assist in maintaining the on-campus cinema & arcade facilities, will assist guests, and will provide support to student programs held in the space. All Facility Assistants and Coordinators will represent the Student Experience team in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
Job Location/ Hours Required
  • Ability to work weekdays, evenings, and some weekends (around class schedule).
  • The candidate will perform most/all job duties in the R.G. Wanek Center.
  • Hours may vary depending on university calendar, however, the maximum number of hours a student employee may work is 20 hours per week [25 over academic breaks]. This position requires a minimum of 8-10 hours per week.

Required Qualifications
  • Current HPU student
  • Good standing with HPU Community Standards
  • Must attend mandatory training.

Experience and Training
  • Customer service experience [in a professional setting] is preferred.
  • General understanding of Microsoft products is necessary.
  • Knowledge of HPU and understanding of the university's culture is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers the HPU experience through face-to-face interactions, phone calls, and emails.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of and readily utilizes university resources and services.
  • Records equipment use, assists guests, completes equipment checkout process, and completes closing routine when working in the arcade.
  • Records cinema attendance, operates projector to run movies, assists guests, works with concession booth attendants, and completes closing routine when working in the cinema.
  • Maintains cleanliness and ensures all operational standards are being met.
  • Submits IT Helpdesk tickets and Campus Enhancement requests as needed to address any issues with equipment functionality.
  • Understands team policies including, but not limited to attendance and dress code, and abides by each.
  • Commitment to maintaining an up-to-date understanding of all facility functions & equipment, troubleshooting procedures, job requirements, and standards.
  • Ability to attend all mandatory, monthly team meetings and team development sessions.
  • Recognizes sensitive internal information and exercises complete discretion when assisting in private matters.
  • Collaborates with members of the Student Experience team to ensure a quick resolution to any issues or concerns.
  • Executes multiple job functions with efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate in a positive manner.
  • Ability to focus on details and prioritize tasks.
  • Works with a sense of urgency while maintaining composure.
  • Other duties as assigned.
