Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Platform Engineer for a rapidly growing streaming media and advertising technology company that delivers cloud-based entertainment solutions to businesses. This is a direct-hire, hybrid position based in Austin, Texas , with an onsite schedule Monday through Thursday and work from home Fridays.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Platform Engineer will serve as the dedicated platform and DevOps lead supporting a large-scale, cloud-based streaming environment. This handsโ€‘on position will strengthen infrastructure, delivery pipelines, observability, and AI-enabled engineering workflows while establishing consistent platform practices across multiple development teams. The ideal candidate is a curious and collaborative engineer who is excited about using AI coding tools and comfortable taking ownership across DevOps, cloud infrastructure, SRE, and developer enablement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own and improve cloud infrastructure across a primarily AWS environment with some GCP services, emphasizing scalability, reliability, and operational simplicity.
  • Lead the infrastructure-as-code practice by developing reusable Terraform patterns and ensuring declared configurations remain aligned with production environments.
  • Design, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines, build infrastructure, deployment processes, and the overall path from code commit to production.
  • Create AI-enabled engineering workflows that strengthen automated testing, code review, development velocity, and software quality before production releases.
  • Establish shared platform and deployment standards across three engineering teams to improve consistency and reduce duplicated solutions.
  • Strengthen observability and resilience through effective metrics, tracing, logging, alerting, safe deployment practices, incident response, and root-cause remediation.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation of approximately one week per month, support escalated production issues, and troubleshoot application code when platform concerns extend into the application layer.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 5+ years of professional Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure experience; Handsโ€‘on experience operating production cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, with exposure to GCP beneficial.
  • Strong Terraform expertise or comparable infrastructure-as-code experience, including reusable patterns, standards, state alignment, and deployment consistency.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, or significantly improving CI/CD systems and automated software delivery workflows.
  • Experience supporting containerized or serverless production workloads and implementing observability through metrics, tracing, logging, and alerting.
  • Daily, enthusiastic use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools to accelerate engineering, testing, learning, and code review.
  • Comfortable reading and debugging application code, with Python experience beneficial; strong ownership, technical communication, curiosity, and a collaborative approach are essential.
