Analytics Engineer

OVERVIEW

This position is focused on efficiently transforming and prepping large datasets for Onpoint’s Analytics staff and clients. The Analytics Engineer plays a key role in designing and maintaining Onpoint’s most complex data transformation logic. The successful candidate will acquire a diverse set of skills in data management, leveraging tools such as SQL, Tableau, Python, and many AWS Services to effectively cleanse and enhance hundreds of terabytes of healthcare data for Onpoint’s client base. The successful candidate in this role must be detail oriented and able to work on multiple projects at a time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use industry best practices to extract and transform data from data lakes using Spark SQL, Python, and AWS services such as AWS Glue.
  • Contribute efforts to research, evaluate, recommend, and implement new products, tools, and software solutions.
  • Participate in analysis, design, development, and implementation of data solutions.
  • Collaborate on system architecture and data model development.
  • Make meaningful contributions to design sessions; gather and understand user requirements and assist with development and finalization of specifications.
  • Follow project specifications closely and clearly communicate progress and status.
  • Take an active role in maintaining existing data pipeline code base, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing code for performance.
  • Perform operational, production support, and maintenance tasks.
  • Contribute to end user technical training and documentation.
  • Understand the value that Onpoint places on maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of our corporate and client data and meet applicable privacy and security compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that Onpoint and client data is accessed, handled, processed, transmitted, disclosed, and stored according to operational and IT policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related field plus one (1) or more years in systems development or data engineering.
  • Experience with SQL and Python is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HEDIS measures preferred.
  • Familiarity with Hadoop, SparkSQL, Amazon EMR, Parquet, Amazon Athena, Amazon Redshift desirable.
  • Knowledge of performance tuning – analyzing log data and query tuning, partitioning, optimizing code.
  • Experience with Unix or Linux environments preferred.
  • Experience working with healthcare data preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and work with new tools as system as business needs evolve.
  • Experienced in diagnosing technical challenges by reading code and technical documentation.

Client Account Manager

OVERVIEW

The Client Account Manager is responsible for the cultivation, administration, and maintenance of client relationships; develops an in‑depth knowledge of data products and services, including a fundamental knowledge of data management processes, tools, and structures, and of the underlying data itself; conducts quality assurance review processes and identifies and participates in internal process and product improvement initiatives; coordinates and prioritizes projects and deliverables; provides effective project management and excellent customer service for Onpoint’s clients; and ensures quality and timeliness standards are achieved for client deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project and Client Relationship Management

  • Develop and oversee implementation of company‑wide project management processes, tools, and methods.
  • Project management and other project‑related responsibilities associated with medium‑sized data management and reporting systems development, implementation, and ongoing operations support; requires proactive project and program planning, timely and effective communication including appropriate documentation; and internal coordination and follow‑through.
  • Proactively identify and address customer needs, be continuously alert and responsive to changing customer business needs, and ensure effective integration with service delivery capabilities and priorities.
  • Develop and manage contractual scope of work within allowed resources, identifying and addressing the need for internal discussion and potential contract amendments.
  • Provide timely and effective on‑site, telephone, and/or videoconferencing support (e.g., client inquiries, requests for ad hoc reporting assistance, miscellaneous research) and training to clients and data users.
  • Manage and monitor client satisfaction, recommend appropriate strategies, tactics, and operational initiatives to continuously enhance the client experience.

Quality Assurance

  • Develop knowledge of data submission specifications, collection and release procedures, and/or regulations.
  • Lead and/or support organization‑wide process improvement initiatives.
  • Help reinforce a culture of continuous improvement characterized by efficient work systems, effective documentation and training, and ongoing monitoring and improvement.
  • Seek and communicate input from customers around product improvements.

Business Development

  • Assist in new business development, including cultivation of new work with existing clients, assisting with responses to RFPs, participation in regional and national meetings and initiatives, and other outreach efforts.

  • General healthcare business knowledge preferred.
  • 3‑5 years project management experience (PMP certification preferred).
  • Experience and knowledge of healthcare claims data and processes, including standard transaction sets, coding methods, and processing.
  • Strong analytic skills with the necessary attention to detail.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Three or more years in health data management and/or healthcare‑related positions.
  • Strong computer skills, preferably with knowledge of SQL, MS Excel, and other data management tools.
  • Familiarity with Tableau/BI tool solutions (preferred).

Health Data Analyst (HDA)

OVERVIEW

The Health Data Analyst (HDA) works closely with the Analytics team to review, analyze, and provide graphical and verbal presentation of health care data. The HDA learns to run queries and interprets outcomes to provide a key quality assurance role for our clients’ data. The HDA will also run reports that inform our clients on health care quality, access, and cost. Under direction of senior staff, the HDA also investigates unusual findings in the data and helps build new reports and products. The HDA must be detail oriented, capable of learning independently, and able to work on multiple projects at a time in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Analysis and Reporting

  • Learn to use software tools such as SQL, SAS, R to query medical claims data and provide clients reports for multiple projects (e.g., use existing code to conduct linkages, run quality measure rates, refresh of person level files for analytic use).
  • After becoming familiar with coding tools, begin to modify code to develop new reports.
  • Prepare graphical reports using Tableau, Excel, and other statistical programs and PowerPoint.
  • Work with senior members of the Analytics Team to present health data in an accurate, efficient, and thoughtful manner.
  • May take a lead analyst role on client/project after becoming familiar with Onpoint processes and databases.

Quality Assurance

  • Support analytic staff by running Onpoint’s data quality processes for extracts and other Onpoint products and reports. This may include running queries using SAS and SQL to identify unusual findings in analyses and reports and reviewing them with the project lead and senior analysts.
  • Assist with evaluation and testing of new software applications.
  • Help complete review and quality assurance of multiple Onpoint reports and deliverables.

General

  • Work with Health Analytics Manager and project leads regularly to balance multiple projects and priorities.
  • Begin to develop expertise in All Payer Claims Data, Onpoint’s data systems, and other healthcare topics.
  • Begin to develop strong understanding of relational databases.
  • Actively seek opportunities to learn and contribute more to the team.
