Job description

George Fox University's Data Analytics Department seeks an organized and self-motivated individual to serve as a Temporary Data Analyst.

About the Job:

In this position, you will be responsible for developing reporting infrastructure to efficiently meet the data demands of government agencies, third-party surveyors, accrediting bodies, and internal stakeholders. You will develop quality controlled, low-overhead, data processes that reduce output variations across time periods and between reports utilizing the same conceptual inputs. This work will require collaboration across business units ranging from highly customer-facing to highly technically-oriented.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying and prioritizing reporting requirements, determining the necessary concepts and definitions, dependent data elements, and their sources.
  • Utilizing enterprise approved tools to develop reproducible data-flows that ultimately fulfill reporting requirements.
  • Implementing, testing, and monitoring the quality of developed data-flows and reporting outputs, performing upgrades as identified and maintenance as required.
  • Working with multiple customers to analyze and visualize complex data in simple and accurate ways.
  • Supporting other IT-related or program management support as needed such as preparing presentations, conducting research, testing new technologies, providing guidance on logical modeling, etc.
  • Assisting in the application of advanced methods of predictive modeling and educating customers on the use and expected results of advanced analytics.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • *See the full job description attached for more information!

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or further education.
  • Experience reading and writing advanced SQL queries.
  • Familiarity with the Python programming language.
  • Report building or analytics experience.
  • Previous experience utilizing a "systems"/holistic approach to identify and realize both technical and business opportunities and use of logic to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
  • The ability to develop and implement strategies that support objectives in a dispassionate, agenda free, manner using the evaluation of evidence to aid decision making.
  • A tenacious, iterative-mentality that drives continuous improvement and limits wasted effort and a consistent and rigorous approach brought to daily activities and assigned priorities.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. This position does not offer visa sponsorship; therefore, only applicants who do not require sponsorship for employment visas, now or at any point in the future, should apply.
  • A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
  • A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Job information:

  • Hours Per Week: 40 hours (1.0 FTE)
  • Duration: This is a temporary position and will conclude within 6 months.
  • Primary Work Location: Newberg Campus
  • Working Conditions: Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment.
  • Supervisor: Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Associate Vice President of Institutional Data and University Resources
