Position: Senior Highway Engineer - Project Manager

Lead complex transportation projects while deepening your impact as a trusted project manager for DOT clients.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Transportation Project Manager, you will lead the successful delivery of roadway and transportation projects for state and local DOT clients. This role is focused on project execution, client management, and team leadership—overseeing projects from scoping through final delivery.

You'll work across a range of projects, including urban and rural roadway design, multimodal improvements, and bridge-related coordination, while building strong client relationships and supporting targeted business development efforts. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys owning projects, guiding teams, and delivering high-quality work. These responsibilities include:

  • Lead transportation projects from initiation through completion, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DOT and agency clients, building strong, trusted relationships.
  • Oversee design development for roadway and multimodal projects, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with project goals.
  • Coordinate internal teams and subconsultants to deliver high-quality, on-time results
  • Execute QA/QC processes across all project deliverables.
  • Support and contribute to proposals, scope development, and project pursuit efforts.
  • Analyze engineering challenges and develop practical, cost-effective design solutions.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including agencies and community members, to communicate project goals and progress.

YOUR STRENGTHS
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or ability to obtain licensure within a defined timeframe
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus, but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Progressive experience in highway and transportation engineering with demonstrated growth in technical and leadership responsibility
  • Experience serving as a technical mentor, reviewer, or discipline resource for other engineers
  • Advanced project management experience leading complex projects and teams
  • Strong financial, project profitability, and operational planning acumen
  • Working knowledge of civil engineering transportation DOT regulations and processes
  • Understanding of design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil3D, Blue Beam)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and grow client relationships and generate new business opportunities
  • A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record is required for periodic travel
