Join Kinkaid Civil Construction

Kinkaid Civil Construction (KCC) is a 100% employee-owned heavy civil contractor specializing in underground wet utilities, earthwork, grading, and roadway infrastructure. We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to support our growing Utah operations.


Position Summary

The Senior Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil construction projects. This position is intended for a Project Engineer with approximately 2–3 years of relevant experience who is ready to take greater ownership of project documentation, coordination, cost tracking, and field support while continuing to develop toward a Project Manager role.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project execution.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change documentation, and project correspondence.
  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, and project requirements.
  • Assist with project schedules, cost tracking, forecasting, and quantity tracking.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, owners, inspectors, and project teams.
  • Support procurement and material tracking to maintain project schedules.
  • Assist with change orders, pay applications, and project closeout.
  • Identify potential project issues and communicate them to project leadership.
  • Work closely with field teams to help resolve constructability and coordination issues.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.


Requirements

  • Approximately 2–3+ years of Project Engineer or related construction experience.
  • Heavy civil construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with underground utilities, earthwork, grading, or roadway construction preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, and cost tracking.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, Procore, or similar construction software preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working for a heavy civil general contractor or subcontractor.
  • Experience supporting self-perform underground utility or earthwork operations.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
