Position Description
Electrical Senior Project Engineer
Locations: Lehi, UT; Billings, MT; Fargo, ND; Grand Forks ND; Maple Grove, MN

AE2S is growing and seeking Electrical Senior Project Engineers to lead electrical engineering design and project delivery for water and wastewater infrastructure projects across multiple locations. This senior-level role is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, leading multidisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality solutions for municipal and industrial clients.
As an Electrical Senior Project Engineer, you will manage client relationships, oversee project execution, and provide technical leadership across power systems, instrumentation and controls, and SCADA. You'll lead projects from planning and design through construction while ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards-supporting infrastructure that serves real communities.
Projects include water treatment and distribution systems, wastewater treatment and collection systems, municipal infrastructure, and process-industrial facilities. Your advanced expertise in power generation, power distribution (less than and greater than 1000V), life safety systems, lighting, instrumentation and controls, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) will be essential in developing innovative, reliable electrical solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level electrical engineering and project management leadership for complex water and wastewater projects
  • Lead and support business development efforts, developing strategies to drive local and regional growth aligned with AE2S's strategic goals
  • Serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor, applying advanced electrical engineering expertise across project teams
  • Design and oversee electrical systems and components, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Conduct research and feasibility evaluations for new electrical technologies and applications
  • Lead large-scale electrical design projects, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and performance monitoring
  • Provide quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) for electrical designs, drawings, and specifications
  • Mentor, guide, and oversee the work of electrical engineers and technical staff to ensure successful project delivery
  • Collaborate across disciplines and with external subconsultants to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions
  • Manage client relationships, proposal development, and identification and pursuit of new project opportunities
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and external meetings with clients, stakeholders, and project teams

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical system design experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Utah or ability to obtain.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, compliance practices, regulations, and standards.
  • Adept in providing guidance and strategic leadership to mid-level, senior-level, and project members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards, and regulations related to electrical distribution, lighting, and special systems, and instrumentation and control systems (instruments, fiber optics, computers, radios, Ethernet networks and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)).
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred
  • 5+ years of Electrical Engineering experience in water and/or wastewater treatment
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Medium voltage experience
  • Project management experience
  • Scope and fee development specific to electrical design
Physical Qualifications
  • Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload.
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
