Job description

Ben Machine Products is a Canadian leader in defence and aerospace manufacturing. Founded in 1973, we have a strong, vibrant workforce of over 200 people across two facilities. Our services include sophisticated 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling, CNC turning with live tooling, 6, 8 and 9-axis Swiss turning, precision sheet metal fabrication, mechanical, optical and electrical sub-assembly, clean room capabilities and various finishing services. Positions and Shifts:

1 position on our day shift: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the rewarding position of CNC Programmer at Ben Machine Products will include the following:

  • Create CNC programs for 3-axis, 5-axis, and CNC lathe machines using Mastercam.
  • Set-up and operate 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC vertical milling machines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan CNC programs, calculate correct dimensions, and determine machine speeds and feed rates.
  • Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Use appropriate tools, fixtures, and indicators to set up the machine.
  • Load, unload, change and modify programs as required.
  • Change and set cutting tools.
  • Modify and grind tools as required.
  • Operate the machine with all safety precautions in place.
  • Deburr and prepare parts for loading and after unloading.
  • Measure and inspect parts to ensure dimensions are within tolerance.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience:

We are looking for candidates with the following minimum experience:

  • 7+ years of CNC programming experience within a precision machining environment.
  • Certificate of qualification, college degree or other training in CNC machining is an asset.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machinist processes.
  • Fanuc or Haas experience a must.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam a must.
  • Previous aerospace experience preferred.
