Palm Beach County is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to manage roadway projects from design through construction completion; prepares reports, letters, and inter-office communications; reviews and approves designs, permits, construction agreements, and construction plans submitted by engineering consultants and developers for roadway projects; reviews and approves construction shop drawings for non-standard construction items on County roadways, and signs and seals in-house roadway design projects; supervises engineering and technical staff.
Palm Beach County is located in South Florida, where residents enjoy great weather, endless outdoor activities, and beautiful beaches year-round. We have something for everyone: A landscape ranging from urban to agricultural to natural wetlands; cultural and historical attractions; regional libraries and adult education programs; dozens of schools, colleges, and universities; and numerous shopping/entertainment centers.
Pam Beach County is one of the fastest-growing counties in Florida and the nation. The Engineering and Public Works Department employs over 400 people, including over 30 professional engineers and several junior engineers. QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field; minimum of five (5) years of experience in professional engineering or related engineering work, including one (1) year of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work,
OR
• A Related Master's Degree; minimum of four (4) years of experience in professional engineering or related engineering work, including one (1) year of experience in the supervisory aspects of the work.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Qualified candidates must:
• Be licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida (FL) OR licensed as a P.E. in another state and ability to obtain State of FL P.E. licensure within 11 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
• Experience in project management on roadways and highways with geometric and drainage design, and
• Experience working with local government agencies and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
