Job description

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role description:

We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our digital transportation portfolio, supporting two flagship products:

  • TravelIQ provides real-time traveller information and traffic event management, helping customers monitor congestion, incidents, road conditions, and travel-impacting events so they can enhance operational awareness and make better transportation decisions.
  • The Arcadis Tolling Platform is a future-ready, user-centric tolling and revenue management system designed to support the seamless movement of people and goods across road networks. It combines roadside technology, operations, and back-office systems to deliver a fully integrated tolling solution.

As the embedded Analytics Engineer for both product teams, you will be the go-to expert for defining analytics requirements, shaping how we capture and structure data, and delivering high-quality insights directly into our products. You will work day-to-day with the TravelIQ and Arcadis Tolling product teams, reporting into and collaborating closely with the digital data team.

You will help identify the value of an analytical foundation to deliver even more relevant services to our customers and improve our offering.

You will build the analytics data layer on the Arcadis Data Platform (Microsoft Fabric), combining near-real-time signals with historical trends from operational databases to support customer-facing Power BI reports and future embedded data products.

You will be the first dedicated data specialist across these products, giving you the freedom to innovate, shape the vision, and bring the teams along on the journey of what data can unlock.

Role accountabilities:

  • Define and implement the analytics architecture on the Arcadis Data Platform (Microsoft Fabric), bringing together historical and near-real time operational data in a performant, scalable, and futureproof way.
  • Own the design and delivery of high-quality, customer-facing analytical reporting for TravelIQ and Tolling platform, translating customer and product needs into clear, actionable insights delivered through Power BI and embedded analytics.
  • Build and maintain curated analytical data models that ensure consistent metrics, strong performance, and reusability across both products and customer reporting use cases.
  • Identify and shape new opportunities to expand the products' analytical capabilities, helping teams understand where additional insight, advanced reporting, or data-driven services could further differentiate the offering.
  • Ensure analytical datasets and reports meet enterprise standards for data quality, governance, reliability, and performance, working closely with the digital data team to align with platform best practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or data engineering roles focused on delivering analytical reporting and insights on high-volume operational data.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing analytics architectures that bring data from operational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL or similar) into modern analytics platforms, enabling performant, scalable Power BI reporting.
  • Strong data modelling expertise, with hands-on experience building dimensional or analytical models optimised for query performance, (cost)-efficiency, consistency, and reuse across multiple customers and use cases.
  • Advanced SQL skills and practical experience transforming operational data into analytics-ready datasets using tools such as Microsoft Fabric, dbt, and Power BI (or equivalent modern data stack components).
  • Demonstrated experience delivering customer-facing analytics, translating complex transactional and operational data into clear, trusted insights consumed by external customers.
  • Experience working with other technology functions in a highly collaborative product team.
  • Commercial awareness in analytics, with the ability to identify opportunities for additional data products, enhanced analytical services, or premium insight offerings that build on existing data assets.
  • Background in transportation or other infrastructure-heavy, operational domains is highly appreciated, particularly where data scale, latency, and performance are critical.
