IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering New Graduate in Long Island, NY to support civil engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading design. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one.

You'll support project planning and scheduling, collaborate with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to client communication, quality control, and safety-focused project delivery. The role aligns with the team's environmental, municipal, and wastewater work, with opportunities to support water and sewer systems, stormwater, and community infrastructure while delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading designs, and learning the civil engineering trade.

  • Perform basic calculations based on assignment, including hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, and calculations to balance site earthwork.

  • Assist in designing water and sewer systems for smaller private and larger municipal systems.

  • Assist with grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans.

  • Work within the project's monetary budget and support project planning, scheduling, and execution to meet project deadlines and objectives.

  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and help build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.

  • Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress.

  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.

  • Participate in quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.

  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance, interpret state and local design criteria, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering while contributing to research, development, and innovation efforts.

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

State of New York Salary Range: $78,000-$82,000 per year

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
