Summary

The Facilities Engineer (Electrical & Infrastructure Specialist) supports the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of facility electrical systems and infrastructure within a manufacturing environment. This role assists with electrical system troubleshooting, equipment reliability initiatives, contractor coordination, infrastructure projects, and utility system support while working closely with senior engineers, maintenance teams, and operations personnel.

The position provides technical support for facility electrical systems including medium and low voltage power distribution, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, protective relays, and related infrastructure supporting manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance, repair, and improvement projects related to facility electrical systems and infrastructure
  • Assist senior engineers with diagnosing electrical issues, coordinating repairs, and supporting field activities
  • Support oversight of medium and low voltage power distribution systems, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, protective relays, and related infrastructure
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and related documentation
  • Participate in electrical equipment installations, testing, commissioning, calibration, and validation activities
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and reliability improvement initiatives to minimize equipment downtime and improve system performance
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment including multimeters, insulation testers, and related diagnostic tools to support troubleshooting and maintenance activities
  • Coordinate contractor activities and support project execution to ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements
  • Collect and analyze facility and operational data to identify inefficiencies and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to support daily manufacturing operations
  • Provide secondary/basic support for troubleshooting mechanical systems and coordinate with mechanical specialists when required
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, maintenance guides, and technical documentation
  • Support facility expansion, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects
  • Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and fire safety regulations
  • Follow established emergency communication protocols and elevate incidents to appropriate personnel according to company procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering, or related field preferred

Experience

  • 1-5 years of experience in industrial facility management, facility engineering, electrical construction, or related field
  • Related Internship, co-op, apprenticeship, military technical training, or senior design projects may be considered in lieu of professional experience
  • Experience supporting industrial electrical systems, power distribution infrastructure, or facility maintenance preferred
  • Experience working within manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments preferred
  • Experience supporting electrical troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, or reliability initiatives preferred

Work Authorization

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Skills

  • Understanding of medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems
  • Knowledge of switchgear, MCCs, transformers, protective relays, motor controls, and industrial electrical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment including multimeters, insulation testers, and related diagnostic tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours:

  • Employees must properly wear and maintain assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times within designated areas
  • Required PPE may include respirators, chemical-resistant garments, gloves, eye protection, face shields, arc flash PPE, or other equipment determined by process and risk assessment
  • Work is performed within a manufacturing facility and may include office, utility, electrical distribution, and operational areas
  • May require occasional support during shutdowns, maintenance windows, or facility projects to minimize operational impact
