The Role
Responsible for the day-to-day Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) activities for their respective facility. Responsible for communicating expectations, building strong relationships with facility personnel, fostering trust through high levels of professional knowledge and accountability and delivers EHS results through incorporation of EHS MS. Promotes and helps lead the implantation of EHS MS to minimize/eliminate all incidents.
What You'll Do
  • Drives accountability and ownership of EHS Management System results for their respective/assigned facility as well as the organization. Provides coaching and directs and manages facility leadership towards greater EHS performance. Serves as a coach and mentor within peer group offering experience and leadership towards the development of EHS success.
  • Has a strategic understanding of the EHS Management System and leads activities and/or obtains resources to address improvement opportunities. Leads collaborative efforts among diverse departments to achieve positive results.
  • Anticipates the need, advocates for, and manages change in support of continuous improvement of EHS processes and programs. Proposes and effectively communicates program/policy recommendations, both verbally and in writing to a broad spectrum of audiences to include senior leadership.
  • Anticipates, recognizes and manages EHS risks through a prioritization process with a goal of establishing a low or no risk work environment. Use data and professional knowledge/proficiency to recommend and drive strategic improvements to the EHS Management System program.
  • Works jointly and collaboratively with operations to reduce EHS related risks while maintaining a commitment to Quality, Cost and Delivery efficiencies.
  • Knowledgeable and manages the Environmental risks for the facility which include but are not limited to PSM, RMP, Wastewater, SPCC, SWPPP, etc.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Business, Industrial Technology, Industrial Hygiene, or related disciplines; or the equivalent in education and work experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience in environmental, health and safety field.
  • Prior leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience in environmental, health and safety field and the EHS Management System Implementation.
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and effective organizational skills.
  • Successfully coach and mentor indirect facility personnel.
  • Develop EHS Program Champions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in interpreting policies and procedures, in delegating responsibilities and in analyzing and evaluating EHS activities.
  • Travel requirement for this role will be 50 percent.
