Job description

Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You've come to the right place.
YOUR IMPACT
You will play an active strategic advisory role across all client events, ensuring that event managers and vendors responsible for program operations execute in alignment with stakeholders' event vision and goals.
Your level of involvement will vary from event to event, ranging from hands-on project management to high-level advisory support. Responsibilities include guiding teams on effective collaboration with internal stakeholders, resolving issues as they arise, and providing oversight of the budget across the portfolio of meetings.
You'll be part of our Optimize Events team in one of our locations in North America. Our Optimize Events team's purpose is to deliver a range of solutions for McKinsey's in-person meetings and events, that enable purposeful, responsible, and collaborative experiences to achieve the objectives of both McKinsey and event attendees. Our vision is to create meaningful attendee experiences by delivering strategic meeting expertise and unparalleled value. We harness technology and leverage our team of experts to actualize event visions, enabling connectivity and the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
You will advise and lead on the execution of a portfolio of meetings. Although the portfolio of events and/or projects may change over time as the needs of the firm evolve, your work will be initially focused on a portfolio of firm client events.
Under the leadership of a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will work closely with event stakeholders to ensure event managers may provide flawless execution of all meetings within the portfolio. You will serve as the primary point of contact for internal clients and will develop a deep understanding of their event team roles and meeting pipelines. This knowledge will enable you to efficiently manage how our event managers support operational elements across the portfolio in collaboration with practices and offices, and other key groups involved in client events across the firm.
You will be expected to support the internal stakeholders and the event managers by providing creative inspiration for integrating the event location and important firm messaging into the program (through activities, communications, branding, etc.).
Your work will play a vital role in fostering collaboration across our client events, enabling diverse stakeholders to engage, exchange insights, and work collectively to address shared business challenges. By facilitating these connections, you will help drive meaningful progress toward regional and firm objectives, while creating opportunities for impactful engagement and partnership on a regional scale.
Your work will involve travel and there is an expectation to attend key planning site visits and scheduled events as needed.
YOUR GROWTH
You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
When you join us, you will have:
  • Continuous learning: Our learning and apprenticeship culture, backed by structured programs, is all about helping you grow while creating an environment where feedback is clear, actionable, and focused on your development. The real magic happens when you take the input from others to heart and embrace the fast-paced learning experience, owning your journey.

You'll make a tangible impact by offering innovative ideas and practical solutions, all while upholding our unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity. We not only encourage diverse perspectives, but they are critical in driving us toward the best possible outcomes.
  • Global community: With colleagues across 65+ countries and over 100 different nationalities, our firm's diversity fuels creativity and helps us come up with the best solutions. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Exceptional benefits: On top of a competitive salary (based on your location, experience, and skills), we provide a comprehensive benefits package to enable holistic well-being for you and your family.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 6+ years' experience in strategic meeting planning in a professional services environment
  • Demonstrated credible leadership, analytics, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
  • Ability to offer new ideas, constructively challenge conventional wisdom, and work collaboratively
  • Skills in leading inclusive problem solving. Able to synthesize insights into clear actionable recommendations and identify creative solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to Build Strong Relationships: Establish trust with colleagues across geographies, roles, and levels, and maintain a non-hierarchical approach with strong influencing capabilities
