Job description

Position Summary

The Senior Platform Engineer - Platform Services & Data Center is responsible for the engineering, implementation, modernization, and operational support of JetBlue's core platform infrastructure. The role provides technical leadership across Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory infrastructure, Infoblox DNS/DHCP/IPAM, Microsoft, Rubrik backup and recovery, enterprise reporting, and data center services. The engineer develops automation, operational dashboards, and monitoring solutions while partnering with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Cloud, Network, and Application teams to deliver secure, resilient, and highly available platform services. This role leads complex technical initiatives, mentors engineers, and drives continuous improvement through automation, analytics, and engineering best practices.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Engineer and support enterprise Windows and Linux server infrastructure.
  • Maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including Domain Controllers, replication, Sites and Services, FSMO roles, Global Catalogs, and Group Policy infrastructure.
  • Engineer, administer, and support Infoblox DNS, DHCP, and IPAM.
  • Support Rubrik backup, cyber recovery, and disaster recovery platforms.
  • Develop automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for platform health, compliance, capacity, and operational KPIs.
  • Build and maintain Splunk dashboards, searches, alerts, and operational reports.
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades, operating system lifecycle management, and modernization initiatives.
  • Lead complex technical projects and serve as the senior technical escalation point.
  • Mentor engineers and develop engineering standards and documentation.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Network, Cloud, Cybersecurity, and Application teams.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and recovery exercises.
  • Support vulnerability remediation, platform hardening, change management, and on-call support.
  • Provide technical guidance on Nutanix virtual machine deployment and integration as needed.
  • Develop and maintain Jinja templates to standardize infrastructure configuration and deployment.
  • Support automated Linux deployments using the RHEL Anaconda installer and Kickstart.
  • Utilize Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and Oracle VirtualBox to support engineering, testing, and development activities.
  • Support Azure Virtual Machines and automate administrative tasks using Azure CLI.
  • Develop and maintain Bash automation scripts for system administration and troubleshooting.
  • Administer and support Linux virtual machines across enterprise environments.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and emergency remediation activities as required.
  • Other duties as assigned   

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Four (4) years of experience supporting enterprise Windows and Linux infrastructure in a large-scale production environment.
  • Four (4) years of experience in a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Senior Platform Engineer, or equivalent technical role.
  • Demonstrated experience engineering and supporting Microsoft Windows Server platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience administering enterprise Linux operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Rocky Linux, or Ubuntu.
  • Experience supporting Active Directory infrastructure, including Domain Controllers, replication, Sites and Services, Group Policy, Global Catalogs, and FSMO roles.
  • Experience administering Infoblox DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (IPAM).
  • Experience administering Microsoft Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), certificate services, DFS Namespaces, and DFS Replication.
  • Experience supporting enterprise backup, cyber recovery, and disaster recovery platforms, preferably Rubrik.
  • Experience developing infrastructure automation using PowerShell.
  • Experience supporting enterprise virtualization and cloud-hosted server environments.
  • Experience developing operational dashboards and reporting using Power BI, Splunk, or similar enterprise reporting platforms.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex enterprise infrastructure issues across Windows, Linux, networking, and platform services.
  • Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure projects, system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives while maintaining high levels of operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing and documentation.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for critical production systems.
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Eight (8) years of experience supporting enterprise Windows and Linux infrastructure in a large-scale production environment.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments with 5,000+ endpoints and mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including Azure Virtual Machines.
  • Experience developing automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Azure CLI, or other scripting languages.
  • Strong Linux systems administration experience, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or equivalent enterprise Linux distributions.
  • Strong Bash scripting and Linux troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience administering Linux virtual machines in enterprise environments.
  • Operational familiarity with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).
  • Operational familiarity with Oracle VirtualBox.
  • Experience with Red Hat Anaconda installer and Kickstart automated deployment methodologies.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Jinja templates for infrastructure automation and configuration management.
  • Conceptual familiarity with Nutanix virtual machine deployment and enterprise virtualization platforms.
  • Experience administering Microsoft PKI and enterprise certificate lifecycle management.
  • Experience administering enterprise DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (IPAM) solutions, preferably Infoblox.
  • Experience supporting Active Directory infrastructure, including Domain Controllers, replication, Group Policy, Sites and Services, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Experience administering enterprise backup, cyber recovery, and disaster recovery platforms, preferably Rubrik.
  • Experience developing Power BI dashboards and executive operational reporting.
  • Experience developing Splunk dashboards, searches, alerts, reports, and operational analytics.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms such as Microsoft SCOM, LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, or equivalent monitoring solutions.
  • Experience with ServiceNow IT Service Management (ITSM), including Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data center operations, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity planning.
  • Experience leading infrastructure modernization, operating system lifecycle management, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Experience in developing technical standards, operational procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across cross-functional teams.
  • Microsoft, Red Hat, Infoblox, Azure, Splunk, ITIL, or other relevant industry certifications are preferred.

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $117,500.00 and $150,400.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
