Job description

Lexicon offers a unique combination of capabilities. Our services include construction management, fabrication, erection, mechanical installation, and plant maintenance for heavy industrial, commercial, and roadway projects, as well as a full spectrum of golf course construction and management services.
Position Summary
The Senior Piping Estimator specializes in cost estimation for industrial piping systems, process piping, and related mechanical installations. This role develops accurate estimates for fabrication, installation, and maintenance of piping systems in energy, petrochemical, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects.
Senior Piping Estimator Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates for piping materials, fabrication, welding, and installation.
  • Review and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Quantify piping spools, valves, fittings, supports, and insulation.
  • Calculate labor productivity rates based on material type and installation method.
  • Solicit pricing from suppliers for pipe, valves, and specialty components.
  • Develop project schedules, man-hour forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Identify constructability challenges and propose value-engineering solutions.
  • Lead bid reviews and presentations for executive leadership.
  • Mentor junior estimators and support team growth.

Senior Piping Estimator Qualifications
  • 10+ years of estimating experience in piping/mechanical construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical background.
  • Strong understanding of ASME, API, and industry piping standards.
  • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, Primavera, Aspen Capital Cost Estimator).
  • Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects preferred.

Senior Piping Estimator Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regular use of phones, video calls, and digital collaboration tools.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs).
  • Frequent travel to job sites, including active construction environments.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or access uneven terrain as required during site visits.
  • Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) when on-site (hard hat, safety glasses, boots, high-visibility vest, hearing protection as applicable).
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and active equipment during site inspections.
