General Description/Primary Purpose:

The position serves as a technical lead for pavement performance research, providing oversight of data collection, analysis, and reporting activities. This role coordinates and guides research staff, applies advanced analytical methods, and leads the development of data infrastructure, experimental designs, and emerging technologies to enhance the quality, reliability, and longterm value of pavement materials and performance evaluation data. This position is located on-site in the Pavement Research Unit of the FDOT State Materials Office in Gainesville, FL.

Job Functions:

The position requires a highly motivated and organized employee who is responsible for the following tasks:

  • - Coordination of research staff supporting data collection and data analysis of pavement performance evaluation.
  • - Providing technical leadership of data analysis activities.
  • - Application of advanced analytical techniques to the data.
  • - Development of database structures to enhance tracking and long-term utilization of the pavement materials and performance evaluation data.
  • - Planning and tracking the progress of studies, as well as coordinating the annual performance data collection with other units (PCS and NDT).
  • - Identification and solicitation of research ideas.
  • - Contribute significantly to the efforts of designing the experiments, development of test plans, identifying proper sensor types, modifying test tools, analysis of the data, and reporting research findings.
  • - Document analytical findings through clear summary reporting, final deliverables, and the continued enhancement of data visualization tools to support research outcomes and deployment.
  • - Implementation and ongoing development of new technologies and infrastructure to improve pavement data collection, processing, analysis, and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvements in this area moving forward.

Required Qualifications

Master's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
