Summary of Job Duties:
An adjunct faculty member shall be responsible to his/her division dean and the Vice Chancellor for Academics and has the following duties:
1. To be concerned with all things involving teaching and student learning and to provide instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy and objectives of the College and in accordance with the established and approved syllabus and student learning outcomes for each course taught.
2. To provide assessment of student learning in his/her classes and to use this assessment to improve instruction.
3. To acquaint all students with course requirements, including how to login to the learning management system (Blackboard) and locate grades during the first week of class and provide student with periodic evaluations of his/her progress.
4. To meet classes as scheduled, follow appropriate course syllabi, and attend adjunct faculty and other meetings as requested by the dean.
5. To prepare thoroughly for each class period.
6. To inform the division dean if class will not meet as scheduled.
7. To display professional mannerisms in conduct and appearance whether teaching day or evening classes.
8. To provide time for out-of-class student consultation as needed.
9. To maintain accurate and timely records in the Blackboard gradebook.
10. To emphasize to all classes the importance of prompt, regular, and continuous class attendance.
11. To submit the names of all students who may need personal counseling to the Vice Chancellor for Student Services.
12. To submit instructor withdrawals and "no-show" students by the deadline.
13. Utilize documents provided in order to stay on task which include Faculty To Do List and the Log-in Cheat sheets.
14. To submit electronically final course grades though Campus Connect as soon as possible after the final exam but before the final grade deadline.
15. To complete and submit electronically the end-of-course assessment form for each course taught.
16. To report all irregularities, questions, or problems concerning instruction to the division dean and/or the Vice Chancellor for Academics.
17. To maintain current credentials on file with the Vice Chancellor for Academic
18. To abide by the regulations in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
19. To participate in professional activities to stay current in their disciplines.
Qualifications:
A Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the specific discipline to be taught are required. Teaching experience is preferred. Classes to be taught day, night, Saturday and online courses at the Hope and Texarkana Campuses. Position will be filled based upon enrollment needs.
