Your role at GEI.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Manage the technical aspects for site civil, geotechnical, or water resources engineering projects including tasks such as permitting, design, contract document preparation, construction engineering, and construction quality assurance for the any of the following client sectors: Mining, Solid Waste, Power Generation, Industrial, Manufacturing, Municipal, or Transportation
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for proposals and projects, project budgets, requests for proposals for contractors, and technical reports
  • Lead proposal teams and presentations. Develop and Maintain Client/Account Relationships
  • Lead and participate on multi-disciplinary, multi-geographic project teams
  • Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events
  • Manage projects and mentor staff which includes providing technical leadership, oversight, and risk management.
  • Assist in recruiting and training additional staff
  • Some overnight travel may be required

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field. M.S, degree a plus.
  • PE certification required
  • 15 years of previous professional experience in civil or geotechnical engineering; Project Management experience, including proposal preparation and budgeting; knowledge of state and federal regulations; proven business development skills.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of principles of civil/water resources/geotechnical engineering.
  • Recognized for technical excellence and development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions.
  • Experience and/or ability to manage a group of engineers and willingness to help expand an engineering practice in GEI's Appleton office.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
