Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for the planning, direct execution, quality assurance, and closeout of structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure on mission-critical data center construction projects. 

Position Details

  • Develops and maintains connectivity scope schedules and milestones in coordination with the broader project team
  • Conducts pre-activity planning meetings, phased inspections, and final acceptance walkthroughs with installation partners
  • Tracks and manages change orders related to structured cabling and fiber scope
  • Identifies schedule risks and quality issues, and escalates with recommended solutions
  • Supervises internal team members, providing technical guidance, task direction, and performance oversight
  • Manages subcontractors and vendor partners, ensuring alignment with quality, safety, schedule, and documentation requirements
  • Supports contractor evaluation and selection and ensures adherence to scope of work and quality standards
  • Coordinates material flow with suppliers and logistics partners, tracking long-lead items and delivery risks
  • Reports project status, risks, and milestones to leadership and stakeholders
  • Communicates schedule impacts, scope gaps, and quality risks with recommended mitigation strategies
  • Documents and shares lessons learned to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supports forecasting and budget efforts related to connectivity scope
  • Performs and validates fiber optic testing, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 (OLTS), OTDR testing, end-face inspection (IEC 61300-3-35), and MPO/MTP polarity verification
  • Conducts inspections of ISP and OSP cabling installations, identifying deficiencies and ensuring corrective actions
  • Leads progressive quality inspections and establishes inspection criteria and acceptance standards
  • Reviews and validates test documentation, as-built drawings, and closeout packages for project completion
  • Performs constructability reviews and resolves field issues related to design, specifications, and scope
  • Manages the RFI process, including preparation, tracking, and resolution with design teams
  • Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., TIA, ANSI/BICSI, NEC)
  • Identifies systemic quality issues and drives corrective actions to improve processes and outcomes 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's in business, computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • 5-8 years of experience with structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure in data center or mission-critical environments
  • Demonstrated ability to directly perform fiber optic testing: OTDR, OLTS, end-face inspection, and MPO/MTP polarity
  • Experience managing both internal personnel and subcontractors in a field construction environment
  • Working knowledge of TIA-568, TIA-942, ANSI/BICSI 002, and CSI Division 27 specifications
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting design drawings, specifications, BOMs, and as-built documentation
  • Experience producing and reviewing formal test documentation and close-out packages for owner acceptance
  • Proficiency with MS Suite, Procore, Primavera P6, COINS
  • BICSI Installer 2 (Fiber), FOA CFOT, or FOA CFOS/D certification preferred
  • Manufacturer certifications (Corning, CommScope, Panduit, or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience on hyperscale or colocation data center projects preferred
  • Experience with OSP deployments in a data center campus environment preferred
  • Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling tool experience preferred
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
