Job description

Job Summary:
Scalence L.L.C. is seeking an Azure Oracle Database Engineer to design, operate, and secure Azure Oracle database services. The engineer will implement identity and access practices, manage database backup and restore processes, and ensure the performance and capacity of databases in Azure.
Responsibilities:
• Identity and Access for Databases
• Provisioning, Configuration, maintenance of Oracle database servers for database version 19c or 23ai
• Provision appropriate administrative roles and enforce least privilege access via role assignments and security groups
• Experience with Oracle database vault in managing privileges for system database administrators and application support resources
• Experience with Guardium database monitoring would be additional advantage
• Backup, Restore and Resiliency
• Develop and maintain baseline configurations for Oracle database servers, including encryption at rest, auditing, threat detection, backup/restore, retention, and access parameters.
• Configure, maintain and optimize Active Data Guard providing minimal replication lag while maintaining maximum performance
• Configuration and implementation of Oracle Golden Gate and enabling active/active schema or table level replication providing higher level of resiliency for application at database server level
• Perform database restores in lower environment using RMAN or logical exports and imports
• Controlled Maintenance and Records
• Plan and document database patching, diagnostics, and repair activities, including remote maintenance records.
• Implement secure media handling and sanitization practices for backups, exports, and logs associated with databases.
• Monitoring and Audit Readiness
• Configure Azure-native monitoring and logging for database identity/access and operational events.
• Tune alerts to service owners/security teams and support audit readiness for access and operational controls.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Proficiency with managed identities for applications and reducing local key usage in favor of centralized identity.
• Strong grounding in configuration baselines, resource tagging, and asset/data inventories in Azure.
• Familiarity with Azure monitoring/logging for database events and integration with approval and incident workflows.
• Demonstrated experience designing and operating secure Oracle database environments at scale.
• Proven capability to govern elevated access, emergency access workflows, incident handling, and post event reviews.
• Strong documentation and communication skills; comfortable coordinating across engineering, security, and operations.
• Practical approach to external service oversight and maintenance recordkeeping supporting audit readiness.
• Experience integrating identity/access workflows with enterprise approval systems and incident/ticketing processes.
• Exposure to data classification/discovery tooling and secure media handling for database backups and exports.
• Familiarity with CI/CD guardrails for secret management and application to database identity patterns.
• 10+ years of experience with Oracle database.
• Distributed data platforms.
• Will operate in Azure but may consider other cloud exp.
• IAS or Exadata.
• Oracle database administration skills.
• Production support.
