Job description

Job role: Senior Network Engineer
Duration: 6 month contract
Location: Bay Area, CA (100% onsite; primarily South San Francisco and San Carlos with travel to Pleasanton and other Bay Area sites)
Overview:
Client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to support our client's rapid growth through the deployment and operation of new, greenfield network infrastructure. This role is heavily focused on building networks from the ground up, supporting new site buildouts, and managing day to day network operations across multiple Bay Area locations. This is a hands on, senior level position requiring minimal oversight and deep experience with on prem physical network environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, deploy, and build network infrastructure for new and existing sites
  • Lead greenfield network deployments and new site buildouts
  • Support and maintain on prem network operations, including switches, wireless, and firewalls
  • Install, rack, stack, and configure network equipment in IDFs and MDFs
  • Perform physical network tasks such as cable tracing, running new cabling, and equipment installation
  • Administer and monitor network performance using SolarWinds
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across multiple Bay Area office locations
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and leadership to ensure network scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Travel between Bay Area offices as needed to support deployments and operations
Required Qualifications:
  • Senior level network engineering experience with the ability to operate independently
  • Proven experience designing and deploying networks from the ground up
  • Strong hands on experience with:
    • Juniper switches
    • Cisco Meraki wireless
    • Palo Alto (PA) firewalls
    • SolarWinds (administration and monitoring)
  • Deep experience with physical network infrastructure and on prem environments
  • Background supporting multi site enterprise networks
  • Ability to independently manage deployments, troubleshooting, and operational support
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and install network equipment (switches, hardware, cabling)
  • Comfortable working in IDFs/MDFs
  • Ability to rack equipment, trace cables, and run new network cabling
Additional Notes;
  • This role does not require AWS or cloud networking experience
  • Focus is entirely on on prem physical network buildouts and operations
