ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Network Analyst position. This position is responsible for leading the design, deployment, and support of enterprise wireless networks, with a primary focus on Aruba and HPE technologies and a secondary focus on Extreme Networks solutions. This role ensures secure, high-availability connectivity for critical applications, compliance with security standards, and seamless integration across airlines and remote airport sites. Projects may include migrating access points and other critical infrastructure locally and regionally, as well as other critical initiatives assigned. This role serves as a technical leader responsible for building scalable, secure, and high-performance Wi-Fi environments across terminals, warehouses, and offices. The successful candidate should combine deep wireless expertise with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, security, and engineering teams. Additionally, this position will collaborate with, lead, and train staff.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or closely related field, plus four (4) years full-time experience in installing and managing multiple protocol networks, including design work and troubleshooting major outages. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Working conditions: Work extended shifts, be called back in emergency situations, and/or travel to remote sites located on mountain tops through rugged unpaved roads.
Licensing and Certification: Specified positions may require valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.

Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted and maintain a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a ten year employment and five year residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to travel to various work sites and work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of working extended shifts and respond to call backs in emergency situations.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
General Tasks Performed in All Positions
This senior level position provides a wide range of highly specialized technical functions in the design, installation, and maintenance of the County's wide area network. Duties include:
  • Meeting with county and other governmental agencies to determine requirements for new or upgraded networks.
  • Creates project plans for all network projects. Configures and tests procedures and equipment for network projects.
  • Communicates status of projects to management and customers.
  • Researches and evaluates network equipment, estimates costs, and makes recommendations for vendor selection.
  • Conducts facility inspections to ensure adequate environmental needs and controls for network equipment.
  • Creates and maintains logical, physical and protocol maps, electronic and hard copy backups of all equipment configuration parameters, and network documentation standards and procedures.
  • Coordinates network services, technical and maintenance support with outside service providers.
  • Manages the network using automated systems to identify trouble spots and to remotely view and administer routers, servers, and other network equipment.
  • Fields trouble calls from customers that relate to network problems; travels to other locations to install and/or repair equipment and resolve network problems.
  • Trains and coordinates with technical support staff and help desk staff in network troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provides additional level of support in the area of Novell and NT operating systems.
  • Tracks the assignment of TCP/IP networks and individual addresses using certificate system and domain name database.
  • Performs periodic maintenance on production network equipment and software.
  • Consults with departments and provides technical expertise regarding future network requirements.
  • Projects short- and long-term requirements for the network based on current utilization and trends.
  • Develops strategic plans to leverage emerging network technology to support future county network needs.
  • May drive a motor vehicle or be capable of arranging for appropriate transportation to and from various work sites and to respond to emergencies.
