Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel, Privacy lawyer to join Adobe's Creativity and Productivity Tools Privacy team. This role supports Adobe's flagship products and platforms-including Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, Firefly, and net-new products-by embedding privacy-by-design into product development, managing risk and enabling responsible innovation.

What You'll Do

Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Legal, Privacy Engineering, Design, Developers, AMEA and Cybersecurity, to assess privacy risks and regulatory requirements across Adobe platforms and surfaces.

Advise on global privacy and data protection laws, staying current on evolving privacy laws and legislation, including regulations governing AIrelated frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act), biometric processing, youth privacy, cross-border transactions. Work with government relations and public policy teams to assess proposed legislation and provide gap assessments as new laws come into effect.

Develop and scale privacy-by-design practices for business units, translating legal requirements into practical business guidance.

Support product and feature development across the full lifecycle, from early design, UI and UX reviews, product launch, improvement and deprecation.

Conduct and coordinate privacy assessments and work with regional counsel to prepare documentation to align with international privacy laws, including DPIAs, LIAs and TIAs and ROPAs.

Help maintain and evolve privacy policies, standards, and governance frameworks, domestically and internationally.

Provide privacy training and mentorship to legal and business partners to build scalable privacy proficiency across Adobe products.

Contribute to finding new and creative ways to drive efficiency within the privacy team, including applying AI models, agents and other tools to enable scale.

Manage and coordinate outside counsel where specialized or jurisdictional expertise is required.

What You Need to Succeed

J.D. degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

Minimum of 10 years of privacy experience, in-house and/or law firm experience.

Strong knowledge of global data protection and privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, U.S. state privacy laws, children's privacy regimes).

Familiarity with SaaS, digital media products, and new technologies, including generative AI, agentic AI and machine learning.

Ability to work independently in a fast paced product environment, balance multiple priorities, and provide clear, pragmatic advice.

Excellent communication skills and comfort advising partners at all levels of the organization.

Willingness to support and collaborate to improve the culture and proficiency of the data protection group.

CIPP certification preferred (or willingness to acquire).

Expected Pay Range:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $169,900 -- $323,350 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. In California, the pay range for this position is $223,300 - $323,350 In New York, the pay range for this position is $223,300 - $323,350 In Washington, the pay range for this position is $191,700 - $277,650

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
