Positional Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead to join its growing multidisciplinary engineering practice. This individual will serve as the technical leader for mechanical engineering projects while helping guide the future growth of the mechanical department.
The successful candidate will lead HVAC-focused building system design efforts while overseeing project execution, mentoring engineering staff, managing client relationships, and supporting business development initiatives. This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and strategic growth responsibilities.
The Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead will play a critical role in delivering innovative and practical mechanical system solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects including healthcare, education, municipal, commercial, and institutional facilities.
This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer to transition into a broader mechanical leadership role and help shape the future direction of the engineering team.
Role & Responsibility:
Tasks That Will Lead To Your Success
  • Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for new construction, renovation, and rehabilitation projects.
  • Develop engineering concepts, strategies, reports, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
  • Design and oversee:
    • Heating systems
    • Ventilation systems
    • Air conditioning systems
    • Building automation integrations
    • Energy-efficient mechanical systems
    • Supporting plumbing and fire protection systems as required
  • Evaluate existing building systems and provide recommendations for upgrades, replacements, and modernization initiatives.
  • Develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions that meet client objectives and project requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical analysis supporting system selection and design.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with structural, electrical, plumbing, architectural, and construction teams.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
Mechanical Engineering Leadership
  • Serve as the senior technical resource for mechanical engineering projects.
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to engineers, designers, and project teams.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers to support professional growth and technical development.
  • Establish engineering standards, quality control processes, and best practices.
  • Review designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents prepared by team members.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering organization.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, building codes, and energy efficiency practices.
Project Management
  • Serve as Project Manager and/or Lead Mechanical Engineer on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Direct multidisciplinary project teams to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality work products.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and resource utilization.
  • Monitor project financial performance and profitability.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
  • Participate in construction administration activities including:
    • Shop drawing reviews
    • Submittal reviews
    • RFI responses

  • Ensure successful project delivery from concept through construction completion.
Client Management & Consulting
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Serve as a trusted engineering advisor throughout project lifecycles.

  • Help clients make informed decisions regarding building systems and project investments.
  • Communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support client satisfaction and repeat business initiatives.
Business Development
  • Support business development and client growth initiatives.
  • Assist with proposal preparation and project pursuit activities.
  • Participate in project interviews and client presentations.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and project expansion.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
