Job description

Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church, located in Wilmington, Delaware, is seeking a part-time Music Director, who is skilled in playing the organ as well as the piano, and also has experience in choral direction.ย  The Music Director will be responsible for musical offerings during our Sunday services and special services such as Easter and Christmas, playing both the organ and the piano during those services,ย directing the Senior Choir, Children's Choir, and Bell Choir, and continuingย our programs of welcoming choral singers from local colleges, as well as putting together an annual concert series open to the public.ย  We are seeking a candidate who is well versed in both the sacred music tradition, as well as contemporary music appropriate in a church setting, thereby creating a blended worship experience.ย  The Music Director will meet with the Pastor each week to coordinate the musical selections for all worship services.ย 

The position is hybrid, requiring some work to be performed at our church, but also allows for some work to be done at home.ย  It will normally will require an average of 15 to 20 hours per week.ย ย 

Qualifications include having a music degree, prior church music and choir experience, requires proficient skills playing both the organ and the piano,ย knowledge of choral church music and hymns, and be familiar with a wide range of music that wolud be appropriate in a church setting.ย  The personality best suitedย for this position woold be dynamic, energetic, collaborative, and a willingness to think outside the box in order to enhance our musical programs.ย 

Salary commensurate with experience in the range of $25,000 to $30,000
