Overview
The Learning Experience Designer, Sr. is an energetic and innovative individual who supports the training development team in the creation of world-class learning solutions that improve the safe operation of Cirrus Aircraft products. This designer will drive analysis, design, and evaluation of instructional projects in collaboration with subject matter experts, instructors, content developers, copy writers, media specialists, engineers, and other key partners. The Learning Experience Designer, Sr. takes charge of managing the overall learning program or multiple projects within it. This involves defining project goals, developing timelines, allocating resources, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring the successful completion of projects within budget and on schedule. Our ideal candidate will have a deep passion for great learning experiences with a focus on multimodal deployment of content to meet our learners where they are - and a love for aviation is big help! Your toolbox should include planning, developing, evaluating, and maintaining training ILT/vILT content, eLearning courses, simulations, mobile learning, graphical assets, and job aids, Quick Reference Guides, and Electronic Performance Support Systems. As a Learning Experience Designer, Sr. you will lead learning projects teams in the day-to-day work, setting goals, removing barriers, and reporting to stakeholders. This position works on the Flight Standards division within the Flight Operations & Training department based in Knoxville, TN.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day work of a project or scrum team, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure that team members have the necessary resources to meet their objectives.
  • Leads the analysis efforts for all new products and interventions, including learner, cost benefit, and performance analyses that support development of business case for implementation.
  • Develops overall program and/or course evaluation strategy to connect course and learning outcomes with business metrics.
  • Serve as chief designer for all course content, providing detailed design documents, storyboards, and other blueprints to content development team for execution.
  • Responsible for creating engaging and interactive e-learning content using Articulate Storyline. They should possess advanced skills in Storyline authoring, including creating custom interactions, designing user interfaces, developing assessments, and incorporating multimedia elements.
  • Monitors progress of course build and coach, advise, and mentor team members during the development lifecycle.
  • Designs and drive the development of quality, just-in-time, informal learning solutions for live and distance training programs.
  • Facilitates instructor training to effectively execute training programs.
  • Travel requirements estimated at 10%, including the need to travel internationally.
  • Oversees the creation, organization, and management of an item bank or question library. They develop a system to catalog and maintain a repository of assessment items, ensuring easy retrieval and reuse across multiple courses or assessments.
  • Creates rubrics to assess subjective or open-ended responses. They establish clear criteria and performance levels to evaluate learners' skills, critical thinking abilities, and application of knowledge.
  • Conducts item analysis on assessments to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of test items.
  • Design effective assessments that align with the learning objectives.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a BS/BA degree plus 7 years of experience
  • 2 years of experience in using Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Rise to develop interactive and engaging eLearning courses required
  • 2 years of experience measuring effectiveness of training programs to ensure they meet the goals of the project required
  • 2 years of experience in multimedia production (A/V work, deck templates, infographics, animations, etc.), required
  • 1 year of experience in editing video and audio files to provide transitions and enhance quality preferred
  • 1 year of experience in using Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, or a similar application to develop video micro-learnings preferred
  • 1 year of experience in using Microsoft Office applications to develop training support materials
  • 1 year of experience with established and emerging tech trends for content creation (e.g. gamification, virtual reality, xAPI).
  • Proficiency in the following instructional design methodologies: ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) Model, SAM (Successive Approximation Model) Model, and Performance Support
  • Strong project management and boundary-setting skills that ensure timely turnaround of deliverables
  • High proficiency working within Agile framework preferred
