Senior Model Maker information

What is a senior model maker?

Senior Model Makers are experienced professionals who design, construct, and refine physical or digital models used in industries such as film, architecture, engineering, and product design. They interpret technical drawings or concepts and bring them to life by crafting detailed prototypes, scale models, or mock-ups. Senior Model Makers often lead teams, oversee complex projects, and ensure the quality and accuracy of the final models, making them integral to the development and visualization process.

How does a senior model maker typically collaborate with design and engineering teams throughout a project?

Senior Model Makers often work closely with both design and engineering teams to interpret concept drawings, resolve feasibility issues, and ensure that prototypes meet technical specifications. Regular communication is essential, as they provide feedback on material choices, manufacturability, and construction methods. Collaboration often involves attending project meetings, suggesting improvements, and iterating on models based on team input. This teamwork helps ensure that the final physical models accurately represent the intended design and function.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior model maker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Model Maker, you need expertise in model construction, prototyping, and material selection, typically supported by a degree in industrial design or a related field and several years of hands-on experience. Familiarity with CAD software, 3D printers, CNC machines, and traditional workshop tools is essential. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and effective communication are key soft skills that set exceptional model makers apart. These abilities ensure the creation of precise, functional prototypes that meet design specifications and facilitate successful collaboration within design and engineering teams.

Job description

Our Company:
Since 2002, SkillStorm's mission is to accelerate opportunity. Our mission guides how we serve our employees and clients. We do this through our three pillars: Tech Force by Design, IT Apprenticeship, and Upskilling Accelerator. As authorized training partners for AWS, Salesforce, PEGA, Appian, and CompTIA, we design, build, and deploy tech teams at scale for enterprise clients while also helping aspiring professionals to go further, faster. Through our partnership network including universities, military programs, government agencies, and more, our mission is deeply rooted in closing the tech skills gap and creating new pathways of opportunity for all. We are proud to be the global leader in launching and accelerating tech careers.
Position Summary:
SkillStorm is seeking an Inside Sales/Executive Meeting Development Representative to be on-site in Jacksonville, FL. In this position, you'll connect with senior decision-makers across technology, transformation, and delivery functions, by phone, email, and LinkedIn, to introduce them to SkillStorm's AI engineering and technology capability model. You'll research target accounts, tailor your outreach, and secure well-qualified meetings for our executive leadership and sales teams, freeing them up to focus on advancing qualified opportunities, developing client relationships and closing business.
Why This Role Is Valuable:
This role will allow SkillStorm's senior leaders to spend more time advancing qualified opportunities and less time conducting initial prospecting. It will create a consistent pipeline of executive conversations while ensuring prospective clients understand SkillStorm's ability to build and scale AI and enterprise technology engineering capability. The compensation structure rewards both productive activity and measurable business outcomes. The representative is compensated for generating qualified meetings and receives significantly greater upside when those meetings create client relationships that produce billable placements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Research target companies, accounts, executives, and potential business opportunities.
  • Identify senior technology, talent, delivery, transformation, and business leaders.
  • Conduct high-volume, high-quality outbound calling.
  • Explain SkillStorm's model confidently in a concise, business-oriented way.
  • Tailor the conversation to each executive's priorities and organization.
  • Identify challenges involving engineering capacity, AI adoption, talent shortages, delivery speed, utilization, and cost.
  • Qualify the opportunity, including business need, timing, scale, decision-makers, and next steps.
  • Secure meetings for SkillStorm's executive leadership and sales team.
  • Provide executives with a concise briefing before each meeting.
  • Maintain disciplined follow-up with prospects who are interested but not yet ready to meet.
  • Build relationships with executive assistants and other key influencers.
  • Maintain accurate activity, contact, and opportunity information in the CRM.
  • Test different messages and provide market feedback to improve campaigns.
  • Work closely with leadership to prioritize accounts and coordinate outreach.
  • Track performance through conversations, qualified meetings, pipeline created, and conversion rates.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and confidently explain a technical/services value proposition
  • Experience qualifying leads and scheduling meetings based on business need, timing, and decision-maker authority
  • Comfort and resilience with high-volume outbound activity and frequent rejection
  • Disciplined record-keeping habits
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a multi-account outreach pipeline independently
  • Research skills with ability to identify relevant companies, roles, and business triggers (e.g., AI adoption, engineering capacity gaps)
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a track record of hitting or exceeding activity/performance targets

Base pay: $20/hour (~$41,600/year)
  • Monthly bonus for hitting your qualified-meeting target; $1,000/month at 20 meetings, plus $50 for every meeting beyond that
  • Uncapped commission on placements originated from the client relationships you build with rates that increase as your volume grows
  • On-target annual earnings of approximately $112,600, with no ceiling on what you can earn

This is a rare opportunity to combine guaranteed income with real, uncapped upside; where you're prospecting and relationship-building translates directly into long-term earnings as your client relationships grow.
Employee benefits:
  • Paid Time Off
  • 8 Paid Holidays
  • Medical
  • Dental
  • Vision
  • 401(k) Plan
  • Flex Spending Account (FSA)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Life Insurance
  • Short/Long Term Disability
  • Supplemental Insurance

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
Location: Florida
