Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Millwork Engineer to lead the engineering and technical design of high-end custom millwork projects, including luxury residential cabinetry, architectural woodwork, closets, casework, countertops, and other custom interior components.

This is a senior-level position for a technical expert with extensive architectural millwork experience and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate has a proven background in creating production-ready drawings, supporting fabrication, coordinating with shop and field teams, and ensuring exceptional quality throughout the project lifecycle.

While project management experience is beneficial, the primary focus is on advanced engineering expertise, custom millwork knowledge, and the ability to deliver accurate, buildable solutions for complex residential projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering and technical development of custom architectural millwork projects from design through fabrication.
  • Produce, review, and maintain detailed shop drawings, production drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Support manufacturing processes, CNC programming coordination, and production planning.
  • Review architectural plans, specifications, field dimensions, and design intent to ensure constructability.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, production teams, installers, and shop leadership throughout project execution.
  • Identify and resolve design, material, or manufacturing challenges before production begins.
  • Ensure engineering packages meet quality standards, fabrication requirements, and installation needs.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to CAD designers, drafters, and junior engineering staff.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives throughout engineering and manufacturing.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and production workflows.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in architectural millwork engineering, drafting, or technical design, preferably in a senior-level capacity.
  • Strong background in luxury residential millwork and custom interior woodworking.
  • Experience engineering custom cabinetry, casework, closets, countertops, architectural woodwork, or similar products.
  • Proficiency creating shop drawings and production drawings for manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting CNC programming and fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD, or similar industry software.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, field measurements, and construction documents.
  • Thorough understanding of millwork materials, hardware, joinery, fabrication methods, and installation practices.
  • Experience mentoring designers or engineering team members is preferred.
  • Residential construction or luxury home project experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Opportunity to work on high-end custom residential projects.
  • Senior-level technical leadership role with significant project impact.
  • Collaborative and quality-focused work environment.
  • Long-term career growth and advancement opportunities.
  • Stable pipeline of custom millwork and luxury residential projects.
  • Opportunity to combine engineering expertise with hands-on manufacturing knowledge.
